I usually play as the default character or the best looking character. Gender does not make me like a game more personally but to each his own.

Animations go into it sometimes as well, but usually I do the same.

Horrible poll, because the answer really depends. I have no trouble playing a female character and I tend to do it quite a bit, but I also like playing a male character. It depends on the kind of character I'm creating (if it's up to me), and possibly what I'd like at the moment.

Now only the girls!

Hunting Season is done...

It depends on the game, what looks better, what is animated better and what is more fitting for the story.

In Fire Emblem games I'll always play as a male because of the relationship system. In Bloodborne I played as a female and tried to model it from another character. The males were ugly in that game and the story doesn't relate to me as an individual. I'm not an extension of that character but rather playing that character. For Mass Effect I felt that Femshep is better than male Shepard, though in Andromeda I really wished I went with Scott over Sarah because he was a much better written and relatable character.

MMO's are dependent on race and appearance. In WoW I was Dreanei male who was fucking bad ass. Games like Black Desert online or other more realistic MMO's with intensive character creators I often go with a female but use my username and it's quite clear I'm a male. Often those games over sexualize the characters of both gender and it's not uncomment for girls to play male characters for the same reason. So I definitely factor in a lot of things. I have no problem with playing either gender and I embrace diversity in gaming. So I guess it all comes down to the game and the style and what I think I'll get out of that particular experience.

Male since I identify with them ...

Its a no brainer, ask yourself what avatar do you prefer to look at over many many hours of play time

I played female in Fallout 4 because I thought her sarcastic answers sounded better than the male counterpart.

Only times I remember choosing female if given the choice is in AC: Syndicate and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell

I have a co worker who plays as a girl in gta5 online and even pretends he a girl in real life to his online friends in the game. Calls himself Victoria and has other girls on there falling for him (her). Sends them pics of a porno actress saying that’s him. He’s a pretty strange guy lol

As for me, I’m probably always a guy in the games I play. Unless there’s no other option like say, bayonetta for instance.

I do when playing multiplayer. A perceived advantage because they're smaller. I know the hitboxes are the same but I do it anyway.

Rarely do I do it for single player. DA:I comes to mind. I'll usually just go with the default character. My Commander Shepard has to look like the one on the cover.

Woot. I'm not the only one. Was it the VA or did ya just randomly decide to choose female?

Random decision. I was an elven female with some weird ass green tribal like tattoo on my face.
