How Many Male Gamers Choose To Play As A Female

Male 280 36.75%

Female 322 42.26%

Show me the results 160 21.00%

Total:762

Depends on the game.If the role fits more a male, in my view, then I will choose a male charachter. If that role fits more a female charachter, then female it is.Wether I am a man or a female in real life, it doesnt matter, and honestly I think it shouldnt also matter for others. Its a game. Its a fantasy. Its not "realistic" by definition.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It depends on the game. I think overall I choose male more often when the option is given to me. Currently playing Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1. Pretty girl-heavy on the character front. Also, I think I love Neptune. Really hoping she jumps out of the screen.

I simply ask this because, for whatever reason, I tend to play as the female when given the chance and actually gravitate towards games with females roles.

Same here whenever a game gives me a choice I choose the female character.

If it's a game with a customizable avatar, I'll usually go male. If it's a game where there are predefined male and female characters to choose from, I tend to pick females.

So, in Fire Emblem Awakening, I chose male Robin, but whenever I play Smash, it's female.

Where's the "depends on the circumstances" poll option?

ie. if it's pre made characters, I'll pick the one I like the most regardless of gender (like Mordecai for BL, while Gaige for BL2. Really hope she returns for BL3 actually, loved her playstyle!). While if it's make your own characters I'll pick the one that better fits the character I want to roleplay.

Yeah, I should have added that. :(

Usually female but if I have the option for manly men then I might choose that.

Depends, if its create a character, and there are no differences other than looks I lean male, (go female on a replay).
If I have a choice between characters, i pick my favorite design which may be female.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

It depends on the game and more importantly what the powers of said character are. I have no problem playing as Princess Toadstool/Peach if she has a better moveset than Mario for example, lol. I've never really been hung up on that. In SF2 I like to play as Ryu, in MK as Sub-Zero, but in Killer Instinct my go to is Orchid.

I like to play as females in games, especially those with customization options. I always wanted to be a fantasy artist like Julie Bell or Frank Frazetta but I kind of suck at drawing and painting, so I only get to design cool female characters through video games, mostly. Sad but true :)

In fighting games and such of course I always play as both male and female characters. Scorpion, Raiden and Mileena are my Mortal Kombat favorites, Cammy and Vega my Street Fighter, and so on. I have no problem with games offering only male characters if they're badass characters (Ryu Hayabusa, Kratos, Nathan Drake, Doomguy, etc.) I'm not a big fan of the bald (or short-haired), bland soldier characters that were so common last gen (and are still present in games like Elex).

I do when playing multiplayer. A perceived advantage because they're smaller. I know the hitboxes are the same but I do it anyway.

Rarely do I do it for single player. DA:I comes to mind. I'll usually just go with the default character. My Commander Shepard has to look like the one on the cover.
