How Many Male Gamers Choose To Play As A Female

Male 280 36.75%

Female 322 42.26%

Show me the results 160 21.00%

Total:762

I don't understand your question, you ask HOW MANY which begs for a figure as an answer. But if I understand you correctly, they question you are trying to ask is: As a male player what gender do you choose to play (when choice is given).

And assuming that is what you're asking I'll say I always choose to play as a male when the choice is given, not out of spite for women or anything like that, it's just that as I male I tend to identify my avatar in games as being a male. And in those instances where there is no choice, like when playing Tomb Raider, I'm totally fine with that as I don't feel like I am Lara Croft, rather I feel like I'm controlling Lara Croft. And please don't try to see Freudian meaning here, it's just a matter of how we identify ourselves as.

and one fat guy who had bright green hair just because it was funny.

Fat guy as in legit fat or a dude with a disproportionate jowl but skinny as heck?

Just fat (althought you can't have that 'fat' in it). Think I made him basically have purple pain skin too. didn't play that character much. Prefer the look of thin female, with Knight's set Chest, Cainhurst Legs, Bone Ash arms with Choir mask.

Hmm, pie.

It all depends. A male or female lead doesn't change my Views on a game.
So how it is for me
If a get to make a custom character, almost always a female. Multiple reasons, 1. Simply I like girls, I care more for my character as a girl. Example, I want my female characters to look badass as possible, while looking as visually pleasing as possible (I hate when female characters are just sitting in a swimsuit lol). Not like I think perverted, but what's cool for her etc.
the issue with male characters in that case for me, I tend to really have no care how they dress, because I don't usually get to dress in what I'd wear in every day life, and that's exactly what I'll end up doing if possible. Or just ripped up default clothes etc. I can't pick anything out the norm for me in real life because I just reflect on myself whenever I do and I have these generic characters because of it.

Now here's a thing though, I'll pick a male character in any game that I'm aware things like choices in relationships exist for your character. Example, Persona 3P I started female first time I tried and immediately deleted my file and went male the moment I realized relationships were apart of persona. A game like Mass effect, I'd pick a male, and so on.

Last I pick what's usually right story wise. So say a game lets you choose but a comic or something with the official story exists. I'll usually pick which ever gender that official thing uses.

guess last note games like pokemon and digimon I simply pick females because literally only one friend I play with uses female characters too, and everyone else strictly picks male when possible lol

I think often the reason is because it's sometimes hard to get your player character to look exactly like you so it's like, what the hell, might as well just pick something totally opposite. I know in Fallout 4 I found it frustrating because of the voiced protagonist, like trying to make a character look like me but then sound totally different : o wasn't worth bothering. Just jumped to the opposite sex.

Also for certain action games (not to exaggerate a stereotype but just a reality of genetics) it can be fun as a male to play as a female character and like destroy monsters and things. Girl power so to speak. In my brain something like Fallout pops in my head and putting together a supposedly girl next door looking character who's blowing the brains out of Super Mutants. I'm literally the last person on the planet to care about progressive checklists in entertainment, but it is a fact that the majority of video games have male leading protagonists (Uncharted sort of stuff), so it can be kind of refreshing when you can pick to pick a unique female lead. Again, I don't really care generally but just saying.

Anyway I really do think a big part of it is that in a lot of games it's difficult to really make yourself a believable character so people just say screw it. If games like Fallout allowed you to play as different species (like ghouls) I imagine there's be a load of people who picked that too. Mixing it up

almost 80% of the time i choose female.
1. i tend to not like the design or persona of the male characters
2. being a female makes the game feel "unique" to me, because I am not one, so yeah...thats my reason
3. most of the times their design is more thought out vs a muscle-roid white guy with no facial hair...
( a friend just pointed out to me that none of the fire emblem playable characters have beards...strange)

There's way more than three, look at the avatars. Unless there's a lot of transgenders on the site.

Avatars? I don't think you can tell a person's gender by their choice of avatar

Apparently I can't. Many guys want to represent themselves as women and little girls.

Me, I represent myself as a big fat viking (you can't tell that he's fat in the photo, but I imagine he is). I'm not fat or a viking in real life, but that's how I choose to represent myself.

Once upon a time I might have represented myself as a dickless 3 meter tall Na'Vi as my avatar.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Not sure what this is about... if it's about online games, i choose male because i don't want people to perceive me as a woman.

I know some guys like females and say they rather look at a female ass, but that is nonsense to me. When playing the game i'm looking at the world and the UI, not staring at my characters butt. But hey... to each his own.
