How come? Genuine reason or are you trying to bait the neogaf sjw's out of hiding?

No i'm for real. My genuine reason is that I am male, and immersion is important to me. I play video games for my sense of enjoyment and escapism. I don't want to play as a female, because it's not me. I just can't connect.

I am the same, yet people still try to tell me I am wrong.  Nothing sexist about it, just personal preference.  Having an opinion in 2017 is frowned upon though unfortunately.

i rarely rarely chose to play as a female. if given the choice i go for male. if its a roleplaying game i go for male always. however there are some instances i chose to play as a female like in uncharted's multiplayer, sometimes i chose chloe or whomever. but usually its a one of the male characters. so if there is an actual character, not an just an avatar, i sometimes, (very little tbh) chose female

i dont mind playing as a female though if thats the game thats made or who the character is. after playing Horizon it made so much sense for it to have a female lead and i dont ever want to play a Horizon game without Aloy as the main character. Tomb raider games also wouldnt feel right if they had a male lead.

There's nothing wrong with your own gaming preferences. It's your money. Besides, would people give you shit for not enjoying the racing games genre for example? Why is gender so taboo as a gaming preference. Lastly, if it is reversed, say women being asked if they play male or female (it's always female btw), and they gave a similar answer as mine then all would be fine and dandy. Somehow the other way around is looked down upon. There are people out there that really really really want you to play as a female, because that by their standards proves you're not sexist for some reason.

Why would people tell you it's 'wrong'. You seem to have the idea that it's you right? That character is a representation of you while when I play games, I distance myself from the characters by making them not me.

Best examples I can do is Dragon Age Inquisition. The playthroughs I've done my main character is a female elf, she's the 'canon' character. But my main male was a Qunari warrior. He's not me and that's the point.

My brother finds it funny as I refer to characters as just that 'my characters' in game, and not 'me'. Even created ones, they aren't me.... it helps when you end up playing people like Captain Walker.

Hmm, pie.

Its cause of all those damn sjws. Its getting really bad now to where every single thing is triggering the fuck out of them.

I usually choose a male PC, as in RPG I can identify better, but I have no problems with games tha have a female protagonist, like Tomb Raider series, and in games where I control a party, I always choose both female and male characters for it, if it's possible.

Depends which genre and what the character represents.

Something like an elf = woman. Something like a knight or dwarf = man.

If it's just a "normal" human then men in first person and men or women in third person.

Depends on the game/genre usually.
