To be fair to neogaf numbers...  a lot of people probably carried over their forum topics and so there is a lot of restartup messages...

Will be more meaningful of a sample one month from now...

 

Don't really care, but also curious if mentioning VGC would have the same ban effect on ResetEra.

It didn't look like mentioning VGC would equal an instant ban. ResetEra also doesn't automatically change VGChartz to a bunch of asterisks. However, someone did start a thread citing VGC's numbers and ZhugeEx locked it because they're not reliable.

Reset Era has 10,000 members already but apparently another 5000 waiting in their quene to be activated. So yeah, seems like the game community has a big new forum.

Resetera will suffer the same fate as NeoGAF, probably faster, a small group of like-minded zealots with carefully curated content trying to our-virtue signal each other is too fragile for long term survival. Evilore put all his eggs into the "listen and believe" basket and his children ate him alive.

Just as long as the people manning the place aren't a bunch of shower creeps, they should be fine. Any forum that's run by a person like that should go down in flames, no matter what the politics.

He locked it because they are not reliable?So what?They are still numbers to base speculation upon, and its not like they come out of someone ass.

I know that he is probably trying to create quality conversation, but thats too much to simply lock a thread because you dont agree with the numbers.

The numbers aren't true though. VGChartz is merely a tracker and not good for determining hard sales. Usually bringing them up in sales talk outside this forum only serves as a distraction. I personally rather see a culmination of solid data, so I kind of don't blame him. This is why I miss NPD figures.

NPD numbers aren't true either though. NPD is merely a tracker as well.

Sure, they may have more coverage than VGC but they still don't have 100% coverage so they still aren't 100% accurate.

NPD are numbers from retailers and distributors with a margin of error.  VGChartz numbers are straight up guesses with less tangible data. There's a huge degree of difference.
