Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360 "Newton" motion controller confirmed

There are, unfortunately, a lot of reasons to believe this to be true at this stage. There are just as many reasons why this will fail to gain any kind of traction. And on top of that it'll probably just alienate their current hardcore userbase.

I say it's fortunate if it's true. It will allow me to see the disruption being validated or not, and the blue ocean strategy working or not.

For now, MS did every bad moves they shouldn't have made according to the traps for competitors of the disrupting company.
Let them just do another, I want to see it happen and flop. Sony and MS act like puppets, it's hilarious really.

Especially since seeing them doing this wiimote-like immediately put images of birdmen in my head. They're seeing Nintendo fly like a bird, and are putting feathers in their ass to try to fly like them. But that won't work.

sign of desperation from ms

I stick by what I said in the first thread.

I hope this is true because I want to see a shitstorm erupt. Fanboys screaming, negative press, and the inevitable flop. Heck, it might end up like Real Play and just be forgotten entirely. Whatever happened to that anyone? I remember some Sony fanboys viciously defending that idea.

Hmm...

I will quit console gaming if motion controls become the standard. Unlike most, I not stupid enough to fall for all of this so-called innovation that does almost nothing to improve gaming.

I am Washu-bot B, loyal servant of Final-Fan, the greatest scientific genius in the universe!

This is like in the NES days when SMB came out. Other companies were like, "OH! All we need to do is have a cute character that runs to the right, jumps on enemies, and grows when he gets a powerup! INSTANT SUCCESS!"

What the companies failed to realize, both then and now, is that there is something much less tangible that goes into these ideas that makes them so successful.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Newton, hrmmm.... Again MS copies Apple! Newton and the APPLE?!?! copy! lolz ^o^

Riot of the Blood, just... you...

I'm speechless. Either he hates the Wii so much to quit gaming, or loves analog + buttons.

At least the following link states that it is based on pretty good top notch insider info...

The legal patent and copyright issues are addressed in this article so fanboys and fangirls need not worry. Thoughts about a release date anyone???

I'd like to invite all Sony haters to recall, honestly, whether they've ever criticized Sixaxis motion controls as unnecessary, stupid, or a rip-off of the Wiimote. Even if the criticism was just in your thoughts and not verbalized...did you ever think, "stupid Sony, what a dumb, unnecessary idea" ?

Please then, please, don't make yourself a hypocrite when this controller is released.

I have problems with the Sixaxis, not because it's a WiiMote ripoff, but because it sucks pure 100% ass.

Other than steering projectiles (R&C, Heavenly Sword), the Sixaxis' motion controls are infuriating and broken. Motion controls aren't very versatile when it requires use of both hands at the same time.

Point stands: if the MS controller handles at all similarly, anyone who's ever bashed motion controls of the Sixaxis would be a hypocrite for buying and using the MS controller.

As for whose controller is better, it's gotta be Newton vs. Dualshock 3, anyway.

I want see more in-cockpit, ship-steering games w/ Sony's controllers.  I'd love to pilot an X-Wing fighter with it...
