Pretty good so far. 3 episodes in. Hasn't quite gripped me the same way S1 did so far but still a well made/acted show, with a fantasticly eargasmic 80's retro electronica soundtrack. First time I've seen Sean Astin since LOTR like 14 years ago which is weird ha. I can't help but hear Samwise's voice in there and half expecting to hear "Mr. Frodo" following his dialouge lol.

I feel like at least so far they've dialed back the sci fi/supernatural/horror elements, hopefully all that picks up in the second 2 thirds of the season..

Damn, I got so many shows to still catch up on - besides the rest of Stranger Things 2, gotten finish Vikings, Banshee, Better Call Saul, and still need to give Man in the High Castle a try.

omg didn't notice it's out! nice to hear it's up to the standards, gotta catch up, I'm a huge fan of the 1st season, love the great acting and the retro theme

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I hate the monsters part, ideas and design are bluntly stolen from everywhere else, Alien foremost.

Love the setting and the characters though.

It is also kind of the point one of new characters played in Aliens. Their are a lot of references and similar scenes like stand by me for example. if you have the time check out in google some of the references.

I saw it in one sitting. A very telling sign of how amazing the show is and how lousy my life is.

Mwahaha your life is lousy... You don't see it but I'm pointing my finger at you right now in a derisive condescending manner.

So what? My life is lousy too, I'm just trying to feel better about myself and it does... NOT work. Damn it!

I guess this means more binge watching shows for me too.

Lol, funny.

On Stranger Things 2:

I thought it was like a 3 hours watch, but it was almost 8 hours, great show.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Just finished it.

Pros:
-Nails the atmosphere and characters like the first season
-OST is still wonderful
-Setting is still killer

Cons:
-A lot of the new plotlines didn't have much payoff
-Story wasn't as exciting and it didn't have the same mysterious tone
-Felt a bit tacked on in points

Overall: 7/10

Still a ton of fun to watch and if you liked the first, definitely watch this, but nothing about it really changed my mind that this just didn't really need to happen.

I grew up in the 80s, I don‘t need Google to detect references. R. Donner/C. Columbus (Goonies), J. Dante/C. Columbus (Gremlins), R. Scott (Alien), Cameron (Aliens), Spielberg (E.T., Goonies again), Stephen King (Stand By Me, Langoliers, Carrie), De Palma (Carrie again), Carpenter (Halloween, The Fog, The Thing), Friedkin (The Exorcist), Lynch (Twin Peaks), Lucas (the promotion artstyle), 80s music videos (the over-the-top styling of Kali‘s gang) etc. ...plus casting Paul Reiser from Aliens and Sean Astin from Goonies... it’s a bit too much imo (and that’s not counting the non-hidden things like Ghostbusters and D&D), but it‘s very well done. I just wished they‘d came up with one or two own ideas.

GOOD season but not as good as the first. Also episode 7 was dreadful and completely pointless along with all the characters involved in it. The only way they can be of any relevance and redeemed is if they’ve already planned them into season 3 and that that was just a glimpse of them. I would of loved to have seen more development in Maxine’s and her stepbrothers characters aswell, again I hope that season was already planned and they’ll play a part in that.

I loved it. Thought it was almost on par with season 1. Given they plan on doing the story in 4 to 5 seasons I expected more loose threads to play out compared to last year. I just love the setting, music, characters, story, all of it grabs me like few shows do these days.

Also of note: First Netflix show to have Nielsen ratings data, and 15+ million people watched episode one this week to give frame of how popular it is.

Woah :O

Also shows how popular Netflix is. That's a huge number of people!

I should add that is US only and television only. So if someone in the UK watched it or someone in the US watche dit on a mobile device those wouldn't count.

I really enjoyed it, though I have to say season 1 was slightly better.

Stranger things really nails the nostalgic feels. Didn't really care for the new characters. Also Nancy should end up with Barb *evil laugh*
