Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Shin Megami Tensei V for Switch officially announced, New Trailer.

Hoping for a FeMC option, it wont happen sadly.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Seems kinda strange that it's NS exclusive. I figured it would have been multiplat at least. Either way, I'll be getting this. I loved SMT4

what do you mean?

He means it looks better?

More advanced does not mean better.

The Order 1886 is more advanced than Another World.
Another World looks better.

Ah, semantics

Edit: But in all seriousness, yeah, I know what you mean. I didn't know exactly what you meant, which is why I used a question mark. More advanced can be used to state better, though.

Hell, why not?

Wouldn't surprise me if this did happen. It'd actually be amazing.

Maybe it's times exclusive or exclusive in Japan.

What kind or percentage or Persona 5 buyers would likely buy this if it was on ps4?

Why would it be strange for this to be exclusive and not say, Persona 5?

SMT and Persona are most popular in JP and NA.
Switch is the best-selling system in both those regions currently.

If anything, it'd be more logical to see a Persona 5 Switch port announced first, but we'll just wait and see how SMT V does on Switch.

Per (at the time) Sega of America PR Manager, P5 was not coming to Switch, period.  That was January, and tings can change, but that's a pretty solid statement that indicates exactly as such.  Perhaps an eventual P5 FES/Golden/etc. would come to Switch (please?), but I'm not expecting it.  With SMT V following in the usual series trend of being on Nintendo (with a slight detour almost 15 years ago to the PS2 for a couple games), I don't expect that to go over to PS4, either.

SMT4 is the only that had never come to a PS console.

But as I mentioned earlier, if its Switch exlusive then thats fine. Exclusives for different devices are cool.

But please dont try and retroactively rewrite history on which devices SMT has actually appeared on.

At this point you're making an argument similar to if saying FF was a PlayStation franchise through FFXII due to ports of the early FF games to PS1.  The early SMTs getting ported to PS1 up to and over a decade after release makes both of our points correct.  (Minus the fact that the first two games even received PS1 ports 8-11 years after release, because even as somebody who likes to keep up on stupid trivia like that, I had no idea.  Points to you for knowing that!  Attributing a small little piece of trivia like that to malice instead of ignorance and assuming I'm trying to rewrite history is a bit rude, though.)  Your point is correct - the mainline series was in some way available on PS, usually a decade late.  My point is also correct, the non-Persona SMT series has been exclusive to Nintendo since at least 2009 if my memory is correct, and only took a slight detour to the PS market for a couple years (I believe seven years, if spinoffs like DDS are included) during the big Japanese PS2 boom.  The rest of the 25+ years shows a clear Nintendo focus.

This is all semantics, though, as it's clear Atlus just rode whichever wave was popular in Japan at the time, hence why the early games received GBA ports as well.  You know as well as I do that gaming is a "What did you do for me lately" industry, so even going back to 2003 is stretching really far just to wonder/hope if the game might not be exclusive!  Of all the things Atlus has done lately, especially since Sega acquired the company, the one consistent thing they've done is send mainline Persona to PS and mainline SMT to Nintendo.  Hell, on a personal note, I was surprised there was even a discussion - the moment SMT V was teased months back, I assumed it was pretty clear it was gonna be a Switch exclusive!

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Persona 5 for Switch...SMT V for PS4....
What will people say about the teaser of the Switch exclusive Persona Q2 someday, I wonder
