Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are Nintendo gamers engaging in reverse racism towards third parties?

It's the portable factor for me. For example I don't mind that Doom is running at 30fps if I can play it portable as well as on the big screen. From what I've seen, graphically the Switch version is pretty close to it's beefier competitors.

Shortcomings in more demanding AAA third-party games are going to happen, because Switch is underpowered if we compare it with PS4/One. But it adds portability, which is huge. So I can overlook some graphical shortcomings if the game runs stable, is not bugged and looks fine enough.

What I dislike is the mentality of "you have to buy third-party games if you want more of them in the Switch. You're guilty of that!".Well, I'll buy them if I like them, obviously, or if I see some potential in them. I won't feel guilty because I'm not gonna buy Skyrim, for example. I think the game is bad, being a third party or not.

There's a third party switch society on here, isn't there? Haven't read the thread, though, so I don't know how serious it is.

I'd think it strange if people were buying games just because they're third party and then yelling about it as if they're trying to create some sort of false market or something. But, each to their own, I suppose. Maybe they're afraid that third parties are going to ditch the switch the same way they ditched the Wii U.

To my mind, you buy a game because you want to play it.

I'll buy a Switch when there's a game released on it that I or my kids want to play.

Here we go again!! Another stupid post in VGC.

Well, seeing as 1-2-Switch has outsold  Minecraft: Story Mode, Skylanders Imaginators, The Binding of Isaac, Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch, Disgaea 5 Complete, Puyo Puyo Tetris and LEGO City Undercover (COMBINED!) then I would say no, Nintendo fans are behaving just like they always have.

(Yeah, I haven't gotten over 1-2-Switch.  I dont think I ever will)

To be fair alot of those games you mentioned are late ports and have been available on systems that they most likely have and have played them if they really wanted to. What were you expecting from them?

video games are not a race, GTFO

I think people are too obsessed with making EVERYTHING about race demeaning and hurting the real issues dulling people on the whole thing.

Nintendo dug thier own hole with 3rd parties years ago. It just now coming back to them.

I dont think that´s the case. Looking back at sales of third party games on Wii, DS and 3ds, there are some titles that sold very well, although we may argue most of them were exclusive of those platforms.
There are even a few but very curious cases of titles that sold equal or better on Nintendo platforms than others, like Rayman Legends and Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed.
I believe that it may feel that third party games are selling better on the Switch because the system is getting the attention of may consumers who are not "die-hard" Nintendo fans and are interested in playing more than just Nintendo games.

Legends did better on PS4 though

sounds like you are getting your excuses in early for when Wolfenstein 2 outperforms Mario Odyssey both critically and commercially on the Switch

so sad

If a third party game is good and interesting, I buy it. Simple as that. But these two criteria are hardly ever met by third parties. It's not my fault they make boring games. Oh, and I will never, NEVER, buy an EA game. On ANY system.

Not really when Nintendo gamers will unconditionally buy games from Nintendo ...

Very few 3rd party games succeed on Nintendo and it has become even more true over the past years ...

Now I wonder if I'm supposed to even take this thread seriously when third parties happened to be classified as a 'race' ... (I'd liken Nintendo gamers relationship to that of third parties much like between confederate america and it's slaves)

You might want to rephrase that, or do you really believe that Animal Crossing game on the Wii U was a smash hit? Stop generalizing.
