Most mismanaged franchise ever after Sonic.

It's a waste. The IP is amazing, full of potential, and have tons of fans around the world, but PD can't seem to get the most simple things right.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I love GT and I've owned Sony consoles since 1995 but this is a dick move. PSN goes down for maintenance from time to time which means, no GT Sport for you. That right there is enough to call bullshit on the entire idea. Hopefully there will be a patch down the line.

Ah the irony. Needing an internet connection to play a game without the internet.

Welcome to the future.... coming soon refridgerators with internet and if internet is down you cant open it.

Worse part is considering there will be programming in those, it's possible that some bug exist that it doesn't open.

I enjoyed the demo, so I bought it. Plus I'm a VR junkie.

But I agree it's pretty shitty, always online and 1v1. I already lost progress in the demo due to a disconnect. Not that it matters since all progress is reset while they said it would carry over?!

Sony are idiots for not making GT Sport a poster child for VR, at least on pro they could have done better.
Losing progress when disconnected is even worse. What kind of cheats were people using in GT6 that they've become this paranoid. Have a separate online garage you can also use offline yet not vice versa, problem solved.

It has a manual save option in the menu, "cannot save game, server not available" f you.
Would leaving it on keep your progress? (What is this, 1987?)

Yep, we have pointed this before, if they are worried about cheats on the offline portion affecting the online, just make the game split in two, the only things you need from offline version is the license test cleared to be able to race a type of event, but the cars, level and credits for the online needing to be won on the Multiplayer portion while the SP content can be played offline if you want.

Perhaps enough backlash will get things patched. Hope they don't say "it isn't as easy as flipping a switch, it's an integral part of the product".

E SPORTS baby , that's where GT is heading. Going to be online only from now on.

Unfortunatelly seems so.

Well, worse yet, it can be unacessible even if only PD server is off-line, so it's prone to be off on 3 possibilities... your conection isn't working, PSN is down or their server is down. Too many cases to impair the SP portion of the game.

It's not much but at least you don't lose progress as long as you can reconnect before closing the game. I already had an unable to save once last night, yet the result still stood after it could save again. It does keep your progress locally in memory at least. Also when I signed out of psn I could still do stuff, until I forced a save twice in a row, then it greyed everything but arcade. At least it survives minor hickups.

No reason they can't patch it to save locally until you reconnect and not grey anything out. Are they so worried people with hack the encrypted save file? Was that a problem with GT6? Ugh a quick google turns up a bunch of save editors. Thank the hackers :( Why we can't have nice things.

Considering this is a heavy e-sport game I can understand they being so anal about the saving and hacking, but for the one of us that doesn't care much about online this totally sucks.

Sony, as a corporation, is a group of individuals. So Sony (the group) are idiots. The legal entity is not a conscious being, it can't be an idiot as it is not a literal being.

The corporation is a singular thing though. Consisting of a group of things. The company is a singular reference. The people IN the company are a group.

Or at least I'm fairly sure. Do you have any reference points?

Trust me, you're wrong and HE'S right. Sony is an idiot sounds so wrong it's not even funny. Sony, like the other person said, are indeed a group of individuals so yes it's SONY ARE IDIOTS!

Who are you and why would I trust you? I Posted a link to the discussion about it, and just followed it up with an english teacher to make sure.

So what do you offer up other than "trust me" and "it sounds so wrong"?

People that base gramatic on how it feels and not the rules.

Not sure in English, but in portuguese and collectives we talk in singular... the pack (wolves) is hungry.

Like in the link I pasted. "in Australian and New Zealand English company names always take a singular verb." Wonder how common that is.

The wolf pack is hungry. The wolves are hungry. The pack is a singular item that consist of multiple items.

Similar to portuguese then.

I'm sure they'll patch it to somehow make the uh.... "campaign" playable offline. Doesn't make any sense otherwise.

Idk if Gamespot has posted a review or not but their article Monday pretty much nailed it for me. Polyphony seems to be moving the franchise in a direction that caters to a minority of players. But if GT5 could be as meh as it was and still sell on name alone, this probably will too.
