So now you shoot people in the back? :p

It's all about memorizing maps, player patterns and behavior. I'd say 80% of players do the same things during the same senarios. Once you memorize these things, no reflex will be able to compete.

Having said that, at 43, you should still be able to compete reflex wise if you want it bad enough. This isn't a real sport. The body breaks down before the mind and video games only use the mind.

You sure about that? I can cycle 130km in 5 hours, yet holding a thought in my head with my kids around is impossible! Only having time to game when I really should be sleeping doesn't help ofcourse. I've nodded off during online races before. (Actually I've also nodded off while cycling ending up in the ditch)

Anyway when I played HL en UT it was about the same things. Know the layout, know where the power ups are and when they respawn, know where players like to hide etc. Maybe my reflexes can still compete when well rested, yet I don't have the patience anymore to learn mp maps inside out and play it every night to get perks and what not. I guess the appeal of PUBG is, only 1 map to learn, no rpg stuff (afaik), level playing field, and plenty of luck to keep it interesting.

Well sure, if you're always sleep deprived and busy with your family, you're going to suffer. But that's probably true for a 25 year old as well lol. I know I can't remember what I did 5 seconds earlier when I don't get a full nights rest.

You still need to use your fingers, you know ?

Fingers? Really? You're comparing sports that require sprinting, jumping, jogging and full body strength to... pushing buttons? I'm pretty sure the ability to push buttons doesn't degrade until you're closing in on social security.

I'm pretty sure someone 50 yo won't be able to press buttons as fast as a 20-30 yo. Motricity in our muscles and reflexes has certainly depleted by that time.

I seriously doubt that. lol Reaction time would have decreased some, sure. But pressing a button fast? Unless you just don't play games alot, I don't think that's possible.

You need to react to know which buttons to press. You don't just continously mash buttons. And reaction time does get slower as you age, so you are at a definite disadvantage the older you are. Experience can compensate for that to a certain degree, but in the end, you still can't react as quick as you used to, and that won't change despite your experience.

I was thinking the same thing about me until I heard about input lag. When I got my ks8000 and played it on game mode, my aiming improved dramatically

You got an additional warranty on that, right? The split panels the KS8000's and KS9000's used have a tendency to fail.

Watch me stream games and hunt trophies on my Twitch channel!

I have heard that reaction time does starts to decrease significantly after your twenties (i heard that from some fighting game fans) so... probably that?.

I got a 3 years warranty.  Hope that is enough.

Yeah I'd say it's definitely age. You were 10 years younger and hungrier on mw back in the day.

Despite playing 16 days worth of gameplay this year on mw remastered and just after hitting prestige 20 I feel my reactions are not what they once were.

I've managed a 31 killstreak only once although I really fucked up multiple times and should have about 4 over 30. But back in the day I could get that almost daily. I think my record was 48-0 or 51-0 back in the day.

I think another problem nowadays is your average gamer is better at shooters. Like back then most players on cod4 mw had never played a similar type of game before but now they've years of experience.

There was a comprehensive study done on this where they took both groups, young and old and compared their reflexes. It showed that yes, young players were faster but it also showed that in the end, it didn't give them an advantage because the older players were more experienced. There was literally ZERO advantage. So, it really doesn't matter.

The reflex thing is WAY overblown. If a 40 year old MLB player can hit a 98 mph fast ball from just 60 feet away, I think a 30 year old can play twitch shooters just fine.
