It's really a choice between the God of War games for me, so I'll go with the Colossus from 2. Poseidon was right up there though.

I think my choice would be Meta Ridley from Metroid Prime 3. That fight was just beyond awesome, it's a shame most of the game's bosses after that are crap.

I'll have to be unoriginal and say Poseidon In God of War III. It really starts the game off with a bang, it's actually one of the best fights of the whole game too.

Considering it is a fucking excellent opening by itself GoW3 takes the cake for me.

God of War 3 takes this one really rather easily, and I don't see it ever being knocked off that perch.

Poseidon 3x. It STILL floors me to this day. It's both horrifying and spectacular. Easily the most epic thing that's ever been conceived in media, gaming or otherwise. That's how you kickoff a game.
