Will we see a 4/10 like GT5 got because "what is the point of driving in circles? I hate racing" reviews?

There will certainly be some clickbaity review to lower its score from a Forza fan masquerading as a critic. I still remember Eurogamer's Driveclub review.

Umm DriveClub wasnt that great all round on the review boards..

There are also many Sony reviews that would give this game a 10/10.

I don't think there is a Playstation equivalent site to the former ICXM.net and Windows Central. Both sites ended up fusing in the name of building up the Xbox brand and are staffed by notorious Xbox zealots. You won't get a discerning review from them.

But wouldn't you say the system you're proposing would further disincentivize publishers from launching a complete game on day one?

That shouldn't really factor in, to be honest.  Accepting a new business model or not is entirely up to the consumer.  The purpose of a review is to help the consumer make an informed decision.

OK, that's fair. I feel very strongly that consumers should be informed when investing in gaming products.

But how would it work logistically? And what about opportunity cost? If I'm reviewing ARMS or Gran Turismo Sport again, six months after launch, I might lose time needed to review a brand new game. In that way, consumers will know a lot about ARMS or GT but will know nothing about The Evil Within 2, to name a game I just beat.

For me GT games are all 10/10, but I can't objectively see any of them getting less than 9/10 for what they offer and no game on the category really upping them enough to validate those silly 6-8 grades.

It lacks content compated to previous entries, it is pretty much an always online game. Plenty of excuses for some reviewers. Throwing overboard that this is by far the most realistic GT ever made and every car is a work of art instead of half being a rush job. More content is coming but unless the game is called Splatoon reviews don't seem to give a duck.

No game should get a pass for the "More content is coming".  All games should be judge on what it release not what patches and content comes it way 6 months to a year down the line.  If that is the case they people probably can easily wait until that content comes.  Everyone has their ideal what is important within a game and have a realistic GT isn't all that great if I must enjoy it online.

Game looks good, but slim pickings in content and car variety would make me lose interest fairly quickly.

This release feels very much like GT7 Prologue, akin to the slice that was GT5 Prologue. Wouldn't doubt there will be a full featured, traditional GT game in GT7 around the corner as they get around to creating the content.

I'm just not game for being a cog in monetizing development goalposts, the content for $60 is extremely sub-standard.

PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW

Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

The driving is really great in this game and is the best it has ever been. BUT, I dont give a shit about online races, it should only be part of the whole, and GTS lacks half a game, which is really pathetic with a dev time of 4 years.

Was really disturbed there was no offline races in the demo, was like WTF?

For lacking a proper career mode and offline functions, this game should get mediocre scores, it can't be a $60 title.

For what I know you had the licences, challenges, time trials and arcade on off-line.
