Forums - General Discussion - Life goals you've recently accomplished

Hi everyone.

After a history of being rather harsh on certain threads here, I felt that aggression only makes things worse. So, I've chosen to make a casual threaf about goals you've achieved, regardless of size.

I know some users on here aren't in the happiest state of their lives, so hopefully some of you will feel relieved telling anyone about your small or large success(es).

I got a full time job teaching, and finally have my own place. And I recliner. I can recline now.

Well every year I choose a personal challenge. This year is working out at the gym 3 times a week. Been doing it without fail since May. Winter will be interesting, since I will sweat a lot and then walk into 0 degree weather and probably freeze. Its the first time I went to the gym more then once a year, but there were times I was more active in high school with sports.

Started my new route at work this week and will take home over 700USD a week.

Celebrated my first anniversary with my wife this weekend.

Bought a house with her 4 months ago.

Successfully having an awesome Metroid marathon for 3 days with some friends and, together, playing through every single game in the series (well except for Pinball and Federation Force, which we couldn't finish) and recording all of it in a stream none of you watched! Yeah, that was seriously awesome, and I'm pretty happy about it.

As for you (monocle), this thread. It's a pretty good achievement allowing yourself to just relax and have a good time - I did feel you were getting a little bit too aggressive lately.

I'll always give a peek at your stream if it's good. Just send the link.

Also, I have an issue with restraining my choice of words online. It's not an issue in real life, but on the internet I typically am too harsh at times. Instead of just being more toxic, I'll just take a step back

That's great to hear. What kind of recliner did you buy?

Just keep going. Even one week failing isn't the end of it. What matters most is consistency and overall gain(s).

i won a super smash bros melee championship that happened in college these days.

...and that's about it.Thank god for fox being broken,i guess

I got my very first two jobs, the most recent one being as an accounting assistant, which is more in line with what I want to do in the future. I'm happy with my salary, too, not to mention that I'm learning a lot.

I also started third semester of University in accounting as well and I've just raised my scholarship to 85%, to the point that I'm starting school all by myself! I'm very happy about that.

On another note, I also won a literary contest in my city a few months ago. Yes, I also aspire to be a decent writer.

And last but not least, I bought my first console with my own money, a Switch. No loans, no allowances; only money that I got with my hard work.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Graduated last August with a Computer Engineering degree, got hired at a major tech company, got my own apartment, and found someone stupid enough to be my boyfriend. So this year has been very active for me

Well if he wasn't, someone else would be, right? So it doesn't make that much of a difference. Anyway, congrats on winning the tournament! (and not congrats on playing the wrong Smash game.)

Edit: also I too did well in Smash recently, getting top 8 in a pretty big tournament a couple of weeks ago.

Hey,melee is the only smash i know how to play, therefore it's the right one.But really, fox is ridiculous in this game.

And i just see now that you are brazillian too(eu devia ter assistido sua stream,eu adoro metroid).

Um...I finished Tales of Xillia 2, Yuru Yuri season 1, and I bought a dog collar for my cat because his neck is too thick and cat collars won't fit.

In seriousness, I've been gainfully employed at the same place for almost five years now, and my last promotion was over a year ago, so no recent accomplishments career-wise. I did purchase my first house in December of last year, which was a pretty big deal at the time. Now I have to focus on upgrades. Need a new A/C system and dryer, and I'd like to install a Whirlpool tub. We'll see how long that takes...
