Meh i never cared about the timeline nonsense either I look at them as stand alone releases

I just thought of something.

Interestingly, if one'd place Breath of the Wild at the very end of the ALttP timeline, it would imply Link failed in Adventure of Link. That game is, the direct sequel of the original, has Link prevent Ganon's resurrection, which the Moblins are trying to accomplish by using Link's blood on Ganon's ashes Dracula-style. Anyway we could assume the 100 years ago memories in BotW are right after AoL, Link more or less dies and Ganon returns for BotW. Coincidentally this would fit with what I said earlier, the 10,000 years ago part is then a (okay a very loose one) retelling of the backstory to A Link to the Past.

Anyway nerd-mode off, I know no-one really cares, I don't really either but I do find it amusing to speculate.

EDIT: For reference, this is what Nintendo published in the Hyrule Historia book in 2011, later they said A Link Between Worlds and Triforce Heroes go after Link's Awakening, and before the NES game:

Who gives a FUCK about the STUPID Zelda timeline

Me. =/

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I've always considered the Zelda timeline to be bullshit. They just re-tell the same story in a slightly different way and setting because story is really not the point of a Zelda game.

Except the story in Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, BotW, Four Swords Adventures, Adventure of Link, the Oracle games, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, and Botw are nothing alike as far as the main plot goes.  Gameplay mechanics sure, but the lore itself is unique with each game.

While Ocarina, Link to the Past, Link Between Worlds, and Twilight Princess are very similar, the background lore is totally different as well (particularly in TP).

Sorry but I have always found those who say each game is a retelling of the same story to be someone who knows far less about the lore itself than they like to think.  Yes gameplay is first, but the lore is still very present and deeper than many realize.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't pay much attention to the lore and story in any given Zelda game.

Every time I hear about a timeline for LoZ,I roll my eyes.

LoZ stories have always been very simple and trying to establish a timeline I feel just makes things too complicated. LoZ's simplicity is what makes the stories and games charming to me.

I think it takes place after Hyrule Warriors

1doesnotsimply

Why rack your brains over it? Breath of the Wild in the meantime is a nice game with callbacks from previous Zeldas as easter eggs. I can tell from that alone that it has no "fit".

After Oot I would guess...

No need to hold the applause. I know I'm a gienes arse, I mean genius.
