Forums - Gaming Discussion - The VG Music sharing thread

Topic 1. One track comes to mind, the opening of Tales of Phantasia on the Super Famicom, a vocal track with that level of clarity is just amazing for the system.

Could we have a link, tough I would like to participate in this thread too otherwise :)

I dont know of any other thread.

Someone made a 'What are your favorite songs of all time' thread last week. It wasn't limited to video game music, but the OP only posted video game songs, which confused some people.

I only wanted to focus on vgm (hence in gaming discussion) and these specific topics.

Maybe should have explained it better. I am talking about music that is exceptional in terms of what most music sounded like on said system. Unusually good with the sound capablities given. Does that make sense? Otherwise, i'll just adjust it.

Also, very cool choices. True FF fan I see.

Absolutely love the jazz theme.

Nier has one of the best soundtracks of all time.

Problem still persist for me. I'm unsure how music can push the sound capabilities given, as I'm not sure how much resources those pieces eat up from the actual console.

Final Fantasy's music is just too good to ignore. On the topic of "overshadowed songs", just like in the case of FFVII, I gotta mention another final boss theme: The Legendary Beast.

This one generally gets ignored because it's sandwiched between Premonition and Maybe I'm a Lion, and it doesn't really last much (just survive a Shockwave Pulsar from Griever and hit it a few times), but it's really moody all things considered.

All the Jazz choices for Phoenix Wright are marvellous, and if I could alternate my opening intro with another one, it would definitively be the take on Objection!

Totally agree with your opinion with the Nier's ost. xD

Also, if videogames as a whole should have a representative OST to symbolize them all, I'd give the honor to Bamco's amazing opening for Soul Edge:

Then just forget it.

Anyway, are you familiar with Legend of Mana? Great OST.

Can't say I have. Only experience I have with the franchise is Secret of Mana and his american cousin, Secret of Evermore.

This sounds lovely, albeit a bit cheesy. xD

It's really one of the most underrated/forgotten games. It has beautiful graphics and one of the deepest crafting mechanics ever imo.
