Forums - PC Discussion - PC Gamers, Show Me Your POWAH!! (Fall 2017 Edition)

All you need to know is that I just have a crappy 570 SLI setup, and I won't be upgrading until Metro Exodus comes out.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Damn, all that money for your rig, you'd think you could afford a nicer desk. ;)

GTX 1060 6GB
i5 6500
8GB DDR4
minimalist Corsair case
1TB 7200rpm HDD (may upgrade to SSD this holiday if I can get a good deal)

I think that should be all the interesting stuff. It's powered by Super Flower Golden Green 450 W, with everything set up in a really boring but relatively nice-looking black case (i.e. BitFenix Merc Beta) not worth taking pictures of. My gaming is also powered by the SteelSeries Rival 100 mouse, QPAD MK-50 keyboard (brown switches), and HyperX Cloud Stinger headset. The funny thing is that I dislike gaming brands and such, but these seem to have been the best equipment available for the price I paid (as far as I can tell).

Eh, the desk is useful and plenty sturdy. That matters more than aesthetics.

I like your desk, I have a pretty large one myself and I use the space for a TV, books, controllers, etc. It all sounds nice but honestly it feels cluttered, much rather have a more simple desk.

M y room/machine isn't clean enough and my house is always dusty, so no.

I will say the specs though xD

GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming (Best model, I forget the specific name)
i5 6600k
8GB DDR4
1TB 7200 rpm Black HDD
250gb Evo SSD
Gigabyte G1 Z170X Motherboard
Enthoo Pro White case

Also a Blu Ray Drive

My friends kept telling me to just wait for the new GTX series of cards but i'm pretty happy with the 970, it's a beast considering I built this rig in February of 2016 and the card is 3 years old .. might upgrade if i'm still around for the GTX 1100 series. I think it's time for me to get a new monitor though and definitely another SSD

February 2016 Thread

February 2013 Thread

No big changes since the last thread.

I upgraded from GTX 970 to GTX 1070 for €250 in September 2016. And I added another internal 4 TB HDD and an external 5 TB HDD because I bought a lot of PC games and don't like to delete stuff. ;)

Before that, I upgraded my GTX 580 to GTX 970 for €200 in September 2014.

Most other components are still of my PC build from October 2013:

  • Haswell i5-4670K
  • ASUS Gryphon Z87 mainboard
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM
  • 250 GB SSD
  • 4 TB HDD

And the rest of my PC is even older: the PC case is an unobtrusive "black box" from Cooler Master without those fancy LED lights:

My two monitors are from 2007 and 2011, both with their advantages and disadvantages.

My good old Dell 2407WFP from 2007 (16:10, 1920x1200, S-PVA panel, 60 Hz) is still my main display. It has better color accuracy, better viewing angles, better black level and a (slightly) higher resolution than the other monitor. Therefore it is used for most non-gaming tasks and most "slow" games.

The Acer GN245HQ (16:9, 1920x1080, TN panel, 120 Hz, integrated IR transmitter for 3D vision) is the specialist for stereoscopic gaming (2 x 60 Hz) or fast games (120 Hz). If I need more screen space (mostly for Excel), I can use both displays together in extended desktop mode:

I thought about upgrading my monitors this year, but I'm still waiting for models with all features I want (G-Sync + HDR10 + at least 1440p + at least 144 Hz).

So I went to VR gaming instead this year, which is a much bigger change in immersion than a new monitor with higher resolution and a higher dynamic range:

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Pentium N3540 2.16GHz
GPU: Intel HD
RAM: 2GB (1.88 Usable)
STORAGE: 30GB SSD
PSU: 15w

Kneel before the powah.
