Forums - Gaming Discussion - NPD: Destiny 2 down 50% at retail vs. Destiny 1 retail

I usually don't like to see any developer product to fail, but i'm satisfied with this. After destiny 1 they lost my interest entirely. And i'm also not a fan of any game that contains microtransactions in it,so i think they deserve this.

Intresting. What games have you played lately and enjoyed?

Show me one AAA title that had this attach rate.

John Harker for NPD confirmed 40% digital for Horizon's opening month in the Gaf NPD thread.

Also Ubisoft confirmed 40% digital for Ghost Recon and For Honor

Horizon's digital attach rate is literally 27%. We know this because Sony confirmed it

Also I don't see anywhere that shows Ghost Recon and For Honor having 40% digital. It says that their entire catalog of titles is expected to grow in digital, with back catalog in particular increasing digital attach rates

Weird. It's almost as if burning the trust of your audience is a bad thing.

As it should be.

Well. that's 3 for 3. All 3 successors to all 3 of the Uber Hype Brigade from 2014 have experienced pronounced declines in sales. It's almost like overpromising, overhyping your game and then failing to deliver and then either abandoning what you did launch to die (Titanfall 2) or using the shell as a hub to plug in DLC in hopes of squeezing your audience for every cent (Destiny), thus burning your fanbase and becoming the embodiment of disappointment all for the sake of momentary financial gains is a bad long term business strategy.

This really has been the Year of the Lootboxes. So many big games are adopting this practice: Destiny 2, AC Origins, Forza 7, Shadow of War, Battlefront 2. I understand that game development has become very expensive, but fleecing the consumers doesn't sit right with me.

Who could of expected this disaster...

Bungie sold their soul. What'd they think was gonna happen? And then after Microsoft, they signed with Activision.

Dunno about Wildlands but For Honors digital was 50% of the sales. I made a thread about that a few months ago.

Really? Interesting. Than maybe Destiny 2 does have a high as fuck digital attach rate. Don't think it's 50%, but it could be way higher than 25%. Ultimately, I think it would still be down if it included digital, but i'm just guessing.

Yep. My thoughts exactly.
