Forums - Gaming Discussion - NPD: Destiny 2 down 50% at retail vs. Destiny 1 retail

U.S. physical game sales of "Destiny 2" declined more than 50 percent in the month of September versus the 2014 release of "Destiny," according to NPD sell-through data sourced by three Wall Street analyst reports.

Destiny 1 sold <2.7 million retail. This would put Destiny 2 retail at <1.35 million.

Not at all shock since I am sure there are plenty of people like me who bought Destiny 1 on release and felt completely burnt on the title and passed on Destiny 2 cause it was more of the same.

oh, thats hard for DLCSTINY

Same thing happened to Watch Dogs 2.

Was Destiny ps4 bundle counted last time in the retail total? because that bundle sold like crazy. Anyway for me its not that surprising, because last time there probably were more casual buyers and some are waiting PC version this time around.

Weird. It's almost as if burning the trust of your audience is a bad thing.

A hard drop but it still sold a ton.

I think its more that D1 fans feel burned that D2 sucks so hard. They had D1 at a very good level at the end and it was a solid game. Instead of building on that they decided to change everthing and make it a casual game with no depth. Game is just boring. Word is getting out.

Nice!

People are also pissed at how Destiny 2 handles shaders. They turned from what used to be permanent unlockables in the first game to one time consummables in the second.
