Forums - General Discussion - They almost got me

Can't happen to me. I don't buy apple products.

Oh you think this is an Apple only problem? Actually the biggest share of viruses and malwares are on both Android and Windows.

Nowadays no one is safe and thinking you're ok cause you are not on one specific system means you lower your guard on other systems and that's when reality comes knocking at the door.

I don't think this ever happened to me, even though I get a lot of emails (Facebook, Nintendo, online games I used to play...). How do scammers get people's email addresses?

Many of the services you sign up to such as PSN, facebook, maybe even VGC sell your email address on to others (including scammers). Real dick move of them to do that, and impossible to tell which specific sites/services sell stuff (probably all of them though ) sell your information.

Really? I've never heard about that happening, and I consider myself fairly well informed when it comes to information security. I'm sure it can happen with less trustworthy services, but for big ones like Facebook and PSN? Sorry, but no. How your email really gets out there is probably via two main ways: you giving it out on some less trustworthy sites, say, because you want to participate in something and the site requires your email address, or via hacks. PSN? Hacked, and your email address along with it. Yahoo? Hacked. Disqus? Hacked. Some other service you're using? Probably hacked. Once your email is out in the open, there's no taking it back.

That's not even a good fake. I mean how hard is it to remember that no proper company ever will ask you for more information via email?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They'll never catch me!

There are people who believe in a flat earth and spray vinegar in the air to make chemtrails disappear which are 40.000 feet up in the air. As long as these people exist, someone will fall for it.

D'ont forget the scientologists. It has also been scientifically proven that half of all people are below median intelligence.

I assume that's the IP address of the "fake" login attempt, rather than his actual IP.

And on topic, I'm completely immune to this since I don't read emails, got like 2k+ unread emails but screw them!

Just 2k? Pfft

GIT GUD, Senpai.

Well, if we're making a game out of this, I've got 71,185 unread e-mails, from my main email.  My secondary, which is actually older, no doubt has even more...  Well, I checked, it doesn't, I think I added a lot of those senders to my spam.  Both of them are over 10 years old, though.

That's actually a misconception by people less intelligent than me. Because thanks to my extremely high IQ the balance is shifted to the right and actually 90% of people are below average intelligence.

Median doesn't mean the same thing as average lol.
