I'd add an IR pointer.

why?  or just you kidding? :O

Options. For games, some could use it. Heck, think of the Prime trilogy, didn't htat use IR pointer? Easier port, and ports of other Wii/Wii U games that used it.

I prefer in shooter games the dual/gyro aiming combo over IR. But I do wish I had the ir when say inputing my password or other functions.

More options are never a bad thing. And I doubt an IR addition woudl cost much. It's not new tech, they have used it before and are familiar with it.

Hell, I had assumed it had it, but learned the thing on top of the right joycon is instead some sort of other thing that I have never used. Like something that can read rock/paper/scissors or something. I woudl rather it be replaced with IR pointer.

Just a d-pad is fine, thanks.

but what happen when you and your friend play only with a joycon?

I've only had that situation happen once. But I'd be willing to buy a separate left joycon that only has the d-pad.  And I think there's probably quite a few others who would too.  I know I can get a pro controller, but I want that d-pad in handheld mode, dammit.

Remove the HD rumble, makeing the joy-cons cheaper, longer lasting, and lighter to carry.

Then pass that cost saveing onto the Switch package.

Even if its just like a 20$ saved type of thing, that would be worth it.

The cost of the HD rumble is mostly in the form of the R&D that went into them. Magically removing them would not make the console any cheaper unless they don't want to recoup their costs of that R&D

To many people just take each item in a console at face value and be like "oh this costs roughly this to buy" and add them all up thinking the system should cost this. They never factor in the R&D costs that the company wants to make back.

Also, the Switch does not need to be cheaper. It's a fair price.

That's true. I do not think it's worth saved $ 20 if you eliminate HD rumble. In fact, if Nintendo added the stick c in the joycons or more side buttons (SL2, SR2). I would pay $ 20 more because I love playing split screen with my friends, but I feel it need more buttons like a second joystick or top buttons to control the camera, movements, etc. when we play just with a joycon.

A simple solution XD. And what do you think about the scrollwheel Buttons? in fact, Nintendo have a patent about it.

Look:

https://venturebeat.com/2015/09/17/new-nintendo-patent-reveals-scroll-wheel-shoulder-buttons/

I wouldn't want to have such shoulder buttons. I am already annoyed by the existence of analog sticks that have a button press.

Also, I am happy that Switch has digital triggers.

i have Switch and XOne. Analog triggers are Amazing when i play Forza. that would be amazing in Mario Kart 9

Pretty much just release a larger version of them. What little I've played the Switch, the Joy-Cons become increasingly uncomfortable to use in the long run. They don't have to replace the current model, just offer a bigger alternative as an option.

Oh, and the name. This is very much just a personal pet peeve and not that serious, but the name Joy-Con still sounds silly to me.

Like a Pro controller in a Bundle?

It's mostly an issue when playing multiplayer games with several people at once. I'm talking about using individual Joy-Cons in that situation. The pro-controller is perfectly fine, but not really a viable option when there are four people playing at the same time.

I agree, 2 Joycons packs are cheaper than 4 Pro Controllers

Which again leads to the problem that the Joy-Cons are too small.

A d-pad joycon please.

Honestly, I just hope they come out with a Switch XL, complete with larger (about 4-5cm longer) joycons. Would make it more comfortable for me (though I haven't had any discomfort with the current ones), a bit more hand space would be great.

Analog triggers, D-pad, attach them to the console.
