Only 1 million so far? It were 0.915 million in February...

0.9m by February, and they sold 500k during a three month period to June

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=231751&page=1

so i'm not sure why they are lowballing their numbers in this article. They should be closer to 2m than 1m.

I don't even understand what this number is supposed to mean.

- One million played a game with PSVR ? It could mean they sold 500 000 PSVR and in average 2 people played the same PSVR unit

- We sold 10 millions PSVR but 9 millions units are still unopened, only 1 million have being used.

Totally useless article.

By the way, those kind of copypasted thread should not be allowed, the first post by lazy Gribble, I mean. he could have wrote at least one sentance.

That 500k for three month period to June just doesnt sound right at all.  Something doesnt add up somehwere.

Its clearly just over 1m, because they just said so.

This being the biggest seller tells you all you need to know about the appetite for VR this gen/at this time.

It passed 1 million sold through in the start of June/end of May, that's the best we have in terms of official announcements.

I'm assuming that the three month period refers to the quarter from April through June, right? If so, considering June tends to be the most active month of the three, PSVR probably sold somewhere around 1.2m LTD by the end of June.

The 500k in the april to june quarter isn't an official announcement.

Building the future of VR is a lot like creating a new language. Or maybe even an entirely new alphabet!

Making an alphabet isn't that hard. You just need to determine which sounds are used in a language and develop distinct characters either for each syllable or each phoneme.

Seriously, if making an alphabet were so hard, it wouldn't have been a one man project so often in the past. You've got Korean, Cherokee, Klingon, etc.

Love and tolerate.

1m sold through retail? (Just over)

They still use "more then 1 mio" for whatever reason.

They basically already confirmed close to 2 mio sales back at gamescom (said 10 mio VR games got sold with 5-6 games per gamer in average).

It was like 900k in february.  (http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/02/27/psvr-sales-now-900k-sold/)

And 500k in 3 months (http://www.vgchartz.com/article/269560/psvr-sold-500000-units-in-3-month-period-through-june/=

So its definitly more then 1 mio. They most likely just use "more then 1 mio" because it sounds nice and an average people will think 1 mio is alot. It wouldnt make any difference to 90% of the people to if they say 1 Mio or 5 Mio anyway.

915k in February, 1m a good three months later. If we extrapolate that sales pace to October, we land at a value between 1.1-1.2m, so Sony's latest announcement makes sense with its 1m+ figure.

The 500k units for calendar quarter 2 were an IDC estimate, but many people didn't realize it in the thread that was made about that figure. I knew it, you knew it, but it's far from common knowledge around here.

You can't expect too much from people, Rol. We've been through this already.

I was thinking the same thing.

It beat the Virtual Boy. Next stop, the Dreamcast!
