Forums - Gaming Discussion - Game that got the most controversy this year: Mass Effect Andromeda or Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

I'm curious, with both games running into some serious issues and a drop of hype and fan love which title fell the most and is the most hated these days.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Hellblade

What about Middle-earth: Shadow of War? That game is getting quite a bit of controversy. Now, as to those two, I am very disappointed in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite myself.

Good point, forgot about adding that one in.

I wish Shadow of War would get zero sales, but I have to admit that the problems with the other two games are a lot worse than lootboxes, as far as enjoyment of the game goes. You have a padded out late game in Shadow of War (that you can bypass by paying money), versus no X-Men in MvC Infinite. I mean one is really annoying, but the other one is like having no frosting on your friggin cake!

There doesn't seem to be nearly as much hate for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite as there was for Mass Effect Andromeda. Probably because the latter is a beloved franchise with consistent quality games.

By the end of the week, the answer will be a solid Battlefront 2. No way in hell anything will,be more hated than those loot boxes.

Battlefront 2 will have this title well and truly secured.

Was about to say from what I've heard of the Beta for that game, it trumps all games prior in loot crates being horrendous.

Like from what I've heard you have to play like 5 hours to be able to gain enough in game cash to buy 1 loot crate. Only way to get new weapons or upgrades for them and other upgrades is to get like chips or something. You have a chance in your loot box to get 10-20 chips, if you get any. A typical upgrad/gun can cost between 300-900.

I think the vid I watched wa slike is there were 9 guns, to fully upgrade them you would need to play like 1,500 hours or something.

Or spend real money.

I feel the Mass Effect one was probably the most overblown... Yeah it had weird faces and movements, but I can say that about very nearly every open RPG I've ever played lol

It definitely seemed to make the most news though, and it combines both the highest anticipation (following up on a legendary series) with lower-than-expected sales and middling reviews. I suspect if the patched Mass Effect 4 were the one that was released it would have done far better in both regards... they decided to push it out before it was ready, though, so they won't be getting sympathy from me. :p

How about just the majority of the AAA industry.
