I keep seeing 'price cut' presented as part of strategy to catch up. With new PSVR/MOVE/PS4Pro models in the offing, do you not consider that Sony are gearing up to drop their prices?

The main mission of the Xbox One X isn't overtaking the PS4 in sales, but increasing the amount of money spent per active user. It's the same reason why Microsoft has gone the GAAS route.

Don't say "Globally in the US", Don't say "Globally in the US"

*AHEM* I believe ANYthing is possible. But, I don't see what would turn the tide unless MS dumps the price on X1X super hard and early. Then, I could see people jumping ship if they use their consoles as a mostly multiplat machine.

I don't believe its possible.

PS4 sales would have to dive off the cliff, and XB1 sales would have to improve in order for it to be possible. If both continue at the same rate or even if XB1 improved a little I can't see it happening.

I'm an impartial gamer, I own a Gaming PC, PS4 Pro and Switch and Xbox 360 (which has battled through RROD, and disk drive failure but both were self-fixed) was my favorite console of last generation which I still from time to time play. I just don't see a reason to pick up an XB1 especially when most of the first party games (Forza, GOW, etc.) are on the Windows Store and probably others feel the same.

If you asked this question a year ago I would say - probably yes. But after this year, definitely no. 3m is a huge gap.

Totally agree. It's very clear that MS put services over hardware sales now.

I hate those kind of question which ask "can".
Yes of course it can. Question should be "will"?
No.

Sega, back in the day, did something similar and had to overcome a much greater deficit so, it's possible. But I don't think Microsoft wants it badly enough. For whatever reason, I think they're content right now where they're at in console gaming.

It most probably won't. Too much momentum for PS4.

Also US gamers know big AAA PS4 games will eventually be released (TLOU2, God Of War 4, Spiderman). Except Halo 6, Microsoft have nothing to counter that in US.

it can beat ps4 easily if ms sell Xbox one for 50$ or even 100$ less than ps4.also US is Xbox strongest market and PlayStation weakest.in terms of popularity in the US nintendo and xbox is kinda equal but playstation way less popular.

So this black friday when PS4 goes to 199$... there will be a 99$ Xbox One S?

If that happends, yeah that ll probably put xbox ahead for the holidays.

this is exactly that ms needs to do.
