They remade it. With actual battle-mode tracks. It's nothing like the Wii-U Battle Mode. So I guess it's worth a try?

I mean, you probably know that, but it's a major part of what they added to the Deluxe version, so I think it would be polite to the developpers to at least aknowledge that it exists, before dropping it...
