In reality, the numbers are reasonably correct. It says 6.4M with three weeks missing. So around 7M by end of month sold. Nintendo just announced 7.6M units produced by that date which leaves around 600k on shelves and on ships. So numbers here sound reasonable, less than a few % off.

Not produced, shipped. For a console that is selling out almost everywhere and has a very short shelflife if any, 600k is too much of a shipped/sold through gap.

It's undertracked.

Im actually on his side.There are still 3 weeks left, so they could encompass anywhere between 600k to 800k, and the rest could be the units still on shelves.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I think that the minimum would be 60M. It could do way better than that, if Nintendo doesn't screw things badly. Which is a factor we have to acknowledge XD.

Its not doing 60m+ lifetime sales unless nintendo drop the switch price by 100$ within the first year.

No, it’s not sold out everywhere.

It’s not sold out almost everywhere. Japan is the only country that still has supply issues.

It sells through very fast in the US as well and has a very short shelf life there. The same holds true for some european countries, though admittedly it seems to be readily available in others, so that' a mixed bag.

I'm not saying it's massively undertracked, but I think it is slightly. Of course the following three weeks could make suffiient adjustments still.

What indicators are you referring to?

Stock has increased by a huge amount in Oct, amazon has oit dominating overall and smo is released.

Switch could potentially have a 500k month (400k more realistically)

Don't put too much stock in Amazon rankings. In September, it had the Switch selling more than twice the PS4 and now we're seeing that the gap is around 20k.

I never do. Its an indicator, that said how do you get selling twice ps4 on amazon? Amazon has ps4 skus all over the place and switch has 2

I am guessing we won't get numbers except XB1 and PS4 > 580k.

An interesting note which wasn't talked about much

“Sony’s PlayStation 4 led all hardware platforms in consumer spend during September 2017, while Nintendo Switch sold the most units amongst the current generation consoles,” said Piscatella. “SNES Classic was the overall top unit selling hardware platform in the period.”

That tells me that PS4 was extremely close again to the Switch since the ASP of the PS4 couldn't be much more then the Switch due to its leading SKU being less, only the PS Pro boosts it a little bit. And of course Destiny 2 being the biggest game of the year certainly helped HW sales.

Anyone got recent ASPs for these consoles?

donny2112 published the prediction rankings on ResetEra. And Welfare managed to narrow down the sales ranges for the PS4, XB1, and Switch:

PS4 = 300K - 310K
XB1 = 170K - 180K
Switch ≥ 308K

?

The cheapest PS4 SKU in September was $299. The $249 Uncharted bundle had already been discontinued.

EDIT: Never mind, I remembered it as the last week of August, when it was really the last week of September.

Good! So donny left Neogaf too, I wonder if Neogaf will be useful for anything anymore.

And as I thought, extremely close.
