So I just played some Cuphead, the Windows Store, Steam, Xbox Exclusive.

Not the point of the thread, but needs a correction. It's also available on GOG, as well as some places that sell Steam keys.

Oh...
Exclusive.

DRM free too, nice.
I should have looked first.

That's cool and all, but what about, you know, the jump button?

Sounds to me like the aiming is the best it can be for the kind of game this is with the type of controller it uses and you really haven't thought this through for more than five minutes, something the developers clearly have done.

The jump button is fine where it is, even in my suggested layout (and by the way, I did consider the jump button).

The developers could have it so your aiming direction is locked with the right stick, or the aim is reset, and snapped to Cuphead's movement direction when jumping.

Easy.

Another way of placing the jump button would be to have it where the change weapon currently is, as that is quicker to access, though it would likely be too obscure for the end user.

In that layout you would put the change weapon on the A button.

Needing to switch your thumbs almost instantly between pulling/pushing an analog stick to aim and pressing a button an entire inch away to jump when the current way is seamless is needlessly cluncky.

Until we can control games with our minds, clunky is at the core of gaming.
I am just trying to come up with ways to make it less so.

played it with my wii u pro controller, remaped dash to L and used charge shot most of the time. felt almost like a mega man game.

Well that kinda sucks. That certainly kills any remaining enthusiasm I had for the game. But shows yet again, making a game hard is easy, making a game fair and challenging is for good developers.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I mean, one thing is that people disagree but the amount of shit OP got for sharing this opinion.

So many attacks from people saying that just because you dislike this game's controls you must suck at games. Grow up people.

If you played this on PC, What controller were you using?
I found the controls rather good however that was with the X1 controller. Havnt tried the 360 or other variants.

Or... We have simply gotten used to games being way to easy and hand-holding us through an experience.

What does that have to do with a terrible control scheme?

The standard XOne controller.
