So I just played some Cuphead, the Windows Store, Steam, Xbox Exclusive.
There were some Major design flaws that greatly hindered my experience, and I have decided to burden you with my grievances.

Before I start, it is a fun game, and the animation / style is refreshing and pleasant.
I have only beaten the first boss stage, and the first run ‘n gun stage.

Art:
It is my belief that they should of vectorised the art, this would of likely reduced the download size (1.9 GB on Steam) and allowed the art to scale to any resolution the player wants.
But whatever it looks good, so it does not really matter, though it will age faster due to this design choice.

Controls:
So, you cannot shoot and aim at the same time, the game ignores the left analog stick completely (unless you remap something to it), players should be able to use the right stick to aim, rather than having to hold the left bumper to stand still and aim in 8 directions, like we do now.
The way it is now both makes it harder than it needs to be, and kills the pace.

8 directional aiming is, annoying to say the least.
Digging a little deeper into the design, we are playing a digital game that is trying to replicate an analog medium, so why stick to digital style aiming, it clashes with the visuals and aesthetic.
Digital controls also make it harder to play, and enjoy.

The default dash button is very hard to reach in time, the game is typically much easier to play if both the shoot button and the dash buttons are moved to the triggers.
Currently I have my shoot button on LT and dash on RT, I find that this is a much better method of control, and should probably be the default.

I think I will leave it at here until I get further in the game.

I just beat the game in 5 hours, but I guess I can see why people feel like it's too hard. If you feel like you can't shoot and aim at the same time, just go buy the green power from the store: it'll make all your shots be redirected toward the enemy. Also buy the Smoke Dash option, which makes you invulnerable when dashing, and you're all set.

I never really had to map the buttons on the controller either, I know some people prefer shooting on the RT, but I just left it on the X and it was alright for me. xD

Or... We have simply gotten used to games being way to easy and hand-holding us through an experience.

My problem is not that it is too hard, rather that the controls are poorly designed.

I really never had any issue with the controls, and I played it with a worn-out 360 controller.

I'm not sure why you decided to go with that thread title then.

Because the game is made much harder than it needs to be because of its control scheme.

The only thing i changed was that i put the aim button to the left trigger.

Everything else is fine.

After I did a remap of some buttons (lock left trigger, shoot right trigger), I have no complaints about the controls. A button for locked 8-way fire is pretty intuitive. Putting the dash on the X button (square in my case since I use a PS4 controller) helps tremendously too.

That's cool and all, but what about, you know, the jump button?

Sounds to me like the aiming is the best it can be for the kind of game this is with the type of controller it uses and you really haven't thought this through for more than five minutes, something the developers clearly have done.
