In your opinion anyway. GT still has bumper car physics LOL. Or at least it did last time I bothered to watch a beta video, hopefully they changed it.

Both franchises are about as good as it gets in terms of sim on console.

Have you seem anyone beat a best lap or first place in serious racing by crashing and bumping others? The important simulation is on the way the car itself behaves on top condition.

Yeah, in Gran Turismo. You can bounce off walls and actually gain speed and time. Back when I played GT religiously in the GT1-3 days my friends and I invented "bump pass" with each other because we'd hit one another on corners and bounce off at higher speed. It was fun.

Im sure someone can provide examples of Forza having unsim aspects, that's fine. They all do.

Agree and the fact GT doesn't even have a proper campaign speaks volumes and require an online connection for a good chunk of the game (which Sony fans were against).

It has an even better campaign now. It’s online, you drive against real people and could even win a real FIA racing license if you’re really good.

Actually no.  It only caters to people who like to play online and totally misses the people who want a nice and deep single player experience.  I am sure the lottery of getting the real FIA racing license is great but in the end, just like any Online focused game, it will be considered by its community as half a game.  There is nothing really wrong with this direrction but its not like its a full GT experience which a lot of fans will miss.

For me anytime someone bump me I'm out of race losing control.

But that’s simply not true. All the content is still there. They just trust the player to organise his development himself. I agree they should think about adding a traditional campaign for those who miss it...it can’t be that hard to implement. It’s just a matter of organising the existing content.

That said I really like the new approach. It feels fresh, more challenging and I love the fact one now gets experience, mileage and credits for everything one does. You still get cars and other stuff as gifts for reaching certain milestones and progressing in the game. I also find the new campaign very interesting, as the driving school and challenges aim to really improve the driving of each and everyone, something that’s needed if one wants to compete in online races. It’s a very sophisticated approach imho.

Tbh I myself was pretty sceptical about the new approach, but now after trying it myself I don’t think it bothers me at all. The only thing that really bothers me is that I sold my wheel a while ago ;)

Either the game has a full single player campaign or it doesn't.  I know myself, I do not want to play real people online.  I rarely if ever play racing games with people online outside of my friend base and those are casual experiences.  While the new system is towards your liking it just doesn't interest me at all.  I will reserve my opinion until I get a chance to experience it but currently the game isn't what I liked about GT so its not something I am looking to pick up for awhile.

LEt's see how much backlash the lack of SP will have and if they will add to GTS or wait for GT7.

Yeah, we’ll see. The demo seems to get quite a good reception. I’m definitely sure the reviews will be pretty mixed though. After PC2 and F7 came out with that much content, I’m sure there’s will be certain reviewers who’ll value that more than others. I’m not even sure if there ever will be a GT7. Kaz said it already, it’s the new start of the second generation of GT games. I actually believe they’ll be treating it more like a platform which will continuously be updated. Of course that would mean they’d need to monetise the game differently, which I’m not sure they’d be risking, especially after recent events. If they really plan on adding 340 more cars and many tracks that definitely means they’ll plan to support it for quite a while. I really want them to focus on classic cars first. Those I miss the most.

Maybe Poly will do what Turn 10 did and split into 2 games.  One will be their main car lowers game and the other will be a more casual game like Horizon.  This way they can get a game out more than once for a console generation.  I believe the main line GT was probably getting a little to much with the amount of cars it has.

Funny thing is that when GT5 released with a lot more content then lets say FM5 and as a sim was better, guess who got the better reviews?

Reviews for racing sim is one of the ones I wouldn't trust at all.

And on playstation official forum there were massive negative comments over the lack of SP campaign.

When it comes to classic cars Forza Motorsports and Forza Horizon have a clear edge over GT games.
