Which movie was that? That sounds pretty funny.

Actually it is a fence post or something.

This looks amazing. 10/10 material.

This movie is one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen. I'd say that it's hard to say which is best, 2049 or the original. It's not the blockbustery type of film some people might think it is. It's slow-paced, based mainly on dialogues. It's really long, clocking at nearly 3 hours. So I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a massive hit.

Still, the movie is visually astonishing, it tackles really interesting subjects about replicants and the human being, the plot has some pretty nice twists, acting is top notch, the soundtrack is goddamn brilliant... I think that Villeneuve was the right director to the task of bringing Blade Runner alive. It's a must for those who enjoyed the first one. But, as I said, I don't consider this is the type of film that everyone will enjoy. It goes against some norms dictated by the blockbuster type of cinema, and it's a pretty different experience. The original did something similar back in the 80s. They truly respected what Blade Runner means, and I can see how much love they put into this film. Couldn't leave the cinema happier.

Pretty much all of this.

I saw it Friday. Bladerunner 2049 is worth it for the sound and visuals alone. And the world they created is so damn impressive. I really liked it. I had a feeling it wouldn't light up the box office bc it's not hyperfocused on action, and there are a lot of quiet moments, but it made me sad/mad when I saw how bad it did. Really sucks when an AWFUL movie like Beauty and the Beast makes 1.2 billion dollars, and this movie may struggle to make 200-300 million and will likely lose money.

Is it Beauty and the Beast really the best exemple for this injustice though? It was a decent live action adaptation of a huge animation classic, almost every movie with The Rock is way worse xD

Was FF8 any good? It didn't do all too well in the US, but it broke records in China... which is similar to Transformers. It was made by the director of Straight Outta Compton... so it must have some quality.

Haven't watched that one, but I'm not fan of the franchise at all. I did liked Straight Outta Compton though, so I may give it a try just in case

The original Blade Runner is one of the most overrated films in history. Sure it's got its fair share of diehard fans, most of whom probably weren't even born when the original theatrical release came out and only discovered it after its many re-cuts on home video formats. But holy crap is the movie a total snorefest when you're not getting distracted by all the pretty backgrounds and noir atmosphere. The movie is literally a live action anime.

So why anyone is shocked that its sequel that strives to do everything its predecessor did but only bigger and longer isn't setting the box office on fire is beyond me. I had to laugh at some early projections of this movie grossing as much as $80 million domestically opening weekend. Talk about shooting for the stars and hoping for the moon.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Lol, I definitely felt bored of it, but I was pretty young when I saw it. It reminds me of shows that are interesting thematically but boring on screen(Serial Experiments Lain)

I think that Blade Runner films are not for everyone's tastes. Still, and that's my personal opinion on them, I think the original is visionary. It's not just about being a cyberpunk movie with noir elements (which is in itself not pretty common in the 80s tbh). But I feel like the questions it posed about bio-engineeering and human morality are much more relevant now than it was back then. There's no question that it was visually groundbreaking too. It has a pretty defined esthetic that you can only associate with Blade Runner. The sequel does an awesome job in feeling like it's a Blade Runner film, but expand the universe in a lot of different ways.

I can totally understand why the films are not something than everyone can enjoy/appreciate. They are films that I'll always recommend to anyone who asks me about my favourite sci-fi films ever. But I still feel that this is a niche franchise, that I'd love that everyone could enjoy as I do. But I feel that's an impossible task. I can't recommend them enough though.

I'm glad to see it flopping. It was one of the worst movies of this year for me, and yes... I liked the original.

It was just so full of nonsense and empty... Plus, the main "villain" acting and reasoning were comical.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

So its already made more than the original :^)
