Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Article : Nintendo is making 2 million Switch consoles per month now, and they are all selling out.

According to Chinese tech site DigiTimes, which has been accurate in the past on these matters, Nintendo has increased Switch production to a massive 2 million consoles per month.

They also report that vendors are on track to ship 20 million Switch consoles for 2017.

DigiTimes says that the current production is slowed down due to tight supplies of key components such as DRAM.

Nintendo’s official Switch numbers for 2017 are still at 10 million, although we’ve been hearing for months from manufacturers that they will make way more than that, up to 20 million.

The DigiTimes report pretty much confirms that: Nintendo is making as many units as they can and will end up shipping way more than 10 million this year.

The demand for the Switch has been incredible so far — the console has been sold out ever since it launched in March, and demand will no doubt increase even more when Super Mario Odyssey is released later this month.

Lol, officially wrong

So wait they went from not being able to meet demand to making 2 million a month and with ship 20 million consoles for 2017.....how? I mean that would be a CRAZY increase....

First of all, on which matters has DigiTimes been accurate before?

Secondly, no. Nintendo isn't going to ship 20 million this year. I have a hard time believing that they'll ship any more than 13 million. Nintendo could make 1.6 million Wii consoles per month in 2007, and it took a year before they got production up to 2.4 million per month. But now they can suddenly increase Switch production from less than 1 million per month to 2 million per month in less than half of a year?

If they just got to 2 mil per month NOW, it means they are trying to push in time for oddesey and sell something like 3 milion on holiday as well.

Where are they selling them? they are selling 1 million in Japan + NA combined? No way that they sell more in EU than in NA. Shops seem to have plenty of stock now :s.

This is part is definatly wrong: "They also report that vendors are on track to ship 20 million Switch consoles for 2017."
But Nintendo is definitely managed to increase production for holiday season, so maybe currently they really can produce 2m per month.

All the stores in my area, and even on Amazon now......still have stock

Selling out? Not really. Every retailer near me, including Amazon, has plenty of them. Doesn't mean that's the case everywhere, but I doubt they're hard to find anywhere else.
