Either it's what other people said about the forecast or... What other people said about it being a typo. 68 million shipped could be possible I suppose. Not likely though.

Ptobably a typo. The forecast is 78M by March 2018.

Yeah, I noticed it.

Mmm..

Remember when they announced "production shipments", and tried to pass them as sales?

They did that for the PS1 and most of the PS2 era, and people believed it. Of course the systems were very popular, but that PR "scheme" also created a snowball effect.

I don't trust them so much anymore.

Not sure if it’s true or not but I just stumbled upon this and didn’t see a thread on it. I’m sure it’s probably just a typo but there are links within the article that are in Japanese that seem to be announcing the milestone.

I don't see how it could be true, current figures put it at around 65 million units, about 62M in early August which means it would have sold 16 million units in about two months which is about 2M every week since early August, not only is that not reflected in the hardware charts, it also has no logical reason to have spiked that high, that suddenly and seemingly out of the blue.

Only possibility is that the hardware charts are way off and that much off seems like unreasonable to consider, though I don't know how VGChartz gets its figures so I cannot say to what degree of accuracy the charts actually are, whether they are a mere estimate or actually based on concrete information.

Bottom line 78M as of right now seems way off though I have no doubt the PS4 will get there in 6 months to a year or so.

It will be true eventually. What's the rush?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Well don't know if possible, but it's pretty sure PS4 sales will surpass 70 millions units WW by the end of 2017

Sony shipped 7.5 million PS4 units in fiscal year 2013,
+ 14.8 million units in fiscal year 2014.
+ shipped 17.7 consoles during fiscal year 2015, and
+ 20.0 million consoles during fiscal year 2016.

The combined total of consoles shipped worldwide between fiscal years 2013-2016 is 60 million

The company forecasted that it will ship 18 million PlayStation 4 consoles during fiscal year 2017,
which began on April 1, 2017 and ends on March 31, 2018.

60+18 ---> 78   (March 31, 2018)

Naaaa ...

edit: it's supposed to be Sony saying this? Mmmmm ... I think this site has something wrong.

The PS5 Exists.

Guys, we have a newbie here. Do you realise when people talk about consoles sales, they're talking about shipments? Everyone used shipment numbers EXCEPT Sony this gen.
