Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gran Turismo Sport vs Forza Motorsport 7 comparison with the Corvette C7

Its funny you mention the Amazon reviews and completely ignore the Metacritic. That's usually a sign somebody has an agenda.

The user rating on Forza 7 is also quite poor on MC, now that you say it. It's the loot boxes and VIP monetizing problems which are even making the hardest fanboys furious. Plus the game has a bad AI and is very buggy and badly optimised on PC. Watch Inside Sim Racing's review on it if you're interested. Sadly most big websites seem to turn a blind towards those things, but that had to be expected...they did the same with Forza 5 and 6.

Forza makes way better job in third person/behind car view. I feels like you're actually driving the car, where in GT or PC2 the car is glued to the camera. Apart from that, it looks like GT is a winner. Also all of that really doesn't matter if the game play sucks. I guess I'm gonna have to play all three games to find out.

The camera movement in GTS is actually customisable this time.

The Cockpit is much more detailed in Forza and the sound is much better too. In Gt the sound is like it would have a hybrid engine!

GTS actually sounds much more like the real thing. The whining you are hearing are the straight cut gears those race cars have.

Love how the sunlight reflects on the car in GT, whereas it's not as noticeable in Forza. GT definitely looks better.

Maybe MS purposely made it look bad so players would buy the XB1X where itll shine better? lol

When did GTS add a campaign mode? All I've heard is it has a collection of challenges and tests. What in past GT games was the requirement to get licenses, which you then took into the actual campaign mode to access higher tier races.

I don't doubt GTS will look great in many areas, it's optimized for one platform and has been in development awhile. But I'll wait for a real comparison. As GAF said when dismissing this video, the time of day is different, and something is weird with this PC footage. It looks flatter than Forza 7 looks, and the frame rate is all over the place.

What people seem to fail to understand is that GTS will have a campaign, just like earlier games....with the difference that this time it will be online! You play against others instead of boring and shitty A.I. and start with a small car, earn money and points and new cars and work your way up, just like in earlier games, only online. They implemented a very sophisticated matchmaking system compared toiRacing, which at least in theory should be able to put you in groups of people with similar driving skills and behaviour.
At the end of that career even lurks the possibility to become a real FIA licensed racing driver.

To me at least that sounds so much more exciting than the boring rubber band AI of earlier GT games.

Concerning the flat look...it looks as if there is a little bit of fog in the Forza footage, maybe that's the reason. That said I've watched a good chunk of Forza 7 footage and gameplay recently and it does look kinda unrealistic and flat. What I also noticed is all the older tracks look much less impressive than that new Dubai track they kept showing all the time. Same without rain compared to all those rainy races they showed to the public over and over.

Metacritic user ratings were mainly because of VIP membership and lootboxes. MS just fixed that VIP-bullshit they tried and lootboxes aren't that neccessary or terrible as some might pretend.

Honestly. GT Sport looks great, but Forza 7 loooks better on a standard Xbox One than in this video. And it looks way better on a One X. I'm not saying that Forza 7 looks better here. But please take some video where Forza 7 actually looks like it does on Xbox/X1X.

How cam the difference be so big?  Maybe they need to take more time and stop releasing sequels so soon after the other. The difference is night and day.  Driveclub also looks far superior to Forza 7.

GTS definitely looks better than Forza 7 in this video.

But this video is no way representative of how Forza 7 looks for real. Colors pop much more than that, it doesn't look flat or muted the way it does in this video.

I think GTS looks better overall, mostly because of its better lighting solution. That's a preference of mine. But if people want to see how Forza 7 actually looks like, they should definitely look elsewhere than this video.

Here's one that's much more representative:

I gathered that myself. Thanks for uploading a better video.

Sorry man...this is the only new track and it looks substantially better than all the old tracks which look bland and boring in comparison.

There are thousands of videos on the net of different tracks on high end PCs which prove my point.

Here is one in 4K of the same track runnin on XBox One X posted by Gamersyde, the site with the best quality videos on the net:

Not a great comparison.
-Different lighting conditions.
-Brands Hatch is one of the tracks that didn't get an enhancement for Forza 7, it has the same textures it did in Forza 6.

So, comparing the things that are actually comparable:
-Car exteriors look about the same, GT seems to do a better job at reflections but that could only be lighting.
-Forza 7 interiors look more detailed
-Forza 7 has better audio.

You realise only ONE new track came to F7 that wasn't already in F6?! BTW some tracks even had downgraded textures in F7 compared to F6.

Don't believe me?!

Eh.... difficult to make a comparison. As others have stated, lighting conditions (time of day) is different in both videos. But from the 4k video I've seen, I would suggest that the car in Forza looks superior (Higher poly count? more detailed and sharper looking). But the sun reflection on the car in GTS looks way better. Even on other tracks in the game of Forza, it doesn't look as good as in GTS. I only have the Demo of Forza 7 on PC, so there are only 3 tracks I can try out in 4k HDR Chroma 4:2:2 :/
Btw..... Do the console do chroma 4:2:2 or 4:4:4?
