Forums - Nintendo Discussion - In terms of Indies, Nintendo's support is best this year

Darkest Dungeon sounds amazing. I agree OP. Many indies are focusing on the succesful Switch. That's a nice estrategy considering this year only the Switch exist in consumers minds.

If I was an indie I would also go to the platform with the least amount of competition.

And what console is that? Surely not the one where third parties don't sell becuase userbase always prefers first party content.

And this is why I dont like when Nintendo does well. Any moderate success is instantly turned into some massive hyperbole like this threads premise

Yet you didn't care when the hyperboles came from other place, the one and only place to play, the console for the player, the saviour of gaming, the only right leader for the industry, the one who makes everything right, I guess after years of hyperboles one just stop seeing them.

He is just mad that Switch is succesful. Don't bother him.

Well, as some Indies said, they sold the most copies on Switch. And thats still a new system with small userbase. Playstation gamers don't buy games, ... at least not as much as Switch-owners.

I hate comments  like.this.

Switch  has a tiny library, yea  most ps gamers dont buy indies but fifa18 will crush splatoon, zelda, mario kart combined in 1 day.

Playstation  has so many great games its really  easy to forget  the smaller one's.

I hate comments like this. It assumes somehow, people buy games they don't like if they don't have anything else. Not buying any game at all (besides the game you bought the system for in the first place) is indeed a viable option, if the library does not offer anything good. A better libraty usually results in each customer buying more games than he would on a system with worse library.

And if the argument would make sense, why games didn't sold that much on WiiU or Vita?

Besides, it's not only indies, also japanese games sell well.

Seems like the Japanese are loving the Switch more than PS4 but that is a hand held focused territory.  Now explain PS4 losing out to Switch in NPD recently and I believe Switch will be on top again for the remainder of the year.  Mario is about to drop.

I think you're forgetting that 1 of the 4 months the PS4 lost against the Switch was because it was the launch month of the Switch. The rest of the wins have low margins - as low as 5K. Could be due to the release of anticipated Switch games like Splatoon. In any case, the US is a close race in the months post the Switch launch month. And the Switch is expected to sell more than the PS4 as it is the newer console. You're also forgetting that the US is still only 1 country.

Right, because consoles sell the most in their first year on the market. That's why PS4 sold the most in 2014 and has only declined since. It's not like PS4 is selling faster in 2017 than in any previous year or anything.

Even though I agree, you need to stop with this attitude that it's only Nintendo. PS4 literally had one of the worst 2-3 first years of its life and it was selling like hot cakes and everyone was praising it. People gethappy when companies succeed. Its not jist Nintendo fans, as much as your hatred would like you to think

Care to elaborate on the bolded?

It had a bad library

Although I'm sure this is the part where you list every game

Just an opinion

Indie games sell better on Switch and they play better as well, so yes, Switch will be the best place for indie games and developers. It's the truth, the library will only grow. We're getting Inside as well now.

As a system to play them on yes. It's like a handheld and home console game in one. There is almost no reason in most cases to buy indie games on another platform when you get the exact same experience with the added portable functionality. (Especially since a lot of indie games don't heavily drain your battery)

Switch is definitely becoming best place for India's, development is easy and Indies are selling great on Switch.

PC obviously wins in terms of sheer quantity of games. In terms of overall quality and value though, it's beginning to look like, at least to me, that Switch is going to run away with it as far as best choice when it comes to consoles. You have a strong list of games, many of which are likely to be of quality because of Nintendo's quality control, along with the ability to play them on the go + the added value of some being physical releases vs PC indies.

What's the point of getting an indie on Ps4, XBO or even PC if its also avalible on Switch? None, the only good reason would be not having a Switch and that's why indies are selling the most on Switch and this will continue.

The console itself is better suited for indies than any other, you are the one ignoring that fact and using the numbers argument instead, of course a console released few months ago has less games than one released 4 years back, that's such an obvious and lame point.

It's the more suitable for indie games though. The vast majority won't have any technical differences between versions, because they don't have the budget to make a high-budget game. So, I was buying my indie games in Steam for the last 5 years, but if I have to choose the Switch version or the Steam version, it's a no-brainer. Portability is a big deciding factor.

Most Indie games look and run as good on Switch or even better thanks to the high pixel density of the screen, they don't have to be more expensive and even when they are is usually still worth it since they have a huge plus on Switch, flexibility. Modding is the only possible argument, but then again that is only on PC, it doesn't happen so much with indie games and most people don't use mods anyway.

Is this what we have to look forward to this generation?
