It broke 500,000 3 weekends ago, passed DOTA2 record (1.2 millionish) 2 weekends ago, and passed 1.5 million last weekend. Currently PUBG has 1.4 Million concurrent users an 1.5 hours before peak traffic. PUBG will break its weekend record today or tomorrow and totally smash it this weekend.

As much as I like to rag on them, I have to commend them for their effort in online infrastructure. It's not easy to expand that much that quickly and still have a robust online experience.

Indeed, while the money is no doubt rolling in, money is also probably rolling out to get even more servers. Paying for servers ain't cheap.

Will this game last 10+ years with a large playerbase like LoL and CS or it is just a brief fad? Only the time will tell.

I'm pretty confident they will hit 2.2 million, the game is going to hit 1.5 million today while most of the US is at work or school.

vivster: I have no idea how the online infastructor works. Is it difficult to grow it fast? Maybe they planned for this? idk who it works.

I'm predicting the latter. Though due to its sheer size it will probably survive one more year or two.

I really hope they add a single player and story to this.

Is this game at Overwatch level in terms of popularity?

This just in... My prediction was wrong. Off by 70,000! Damn, close though (Still have tomorrow). Still standing by the 2 million - 2.5 million this weekend.

Blizzard games have a community for decades. Warcraft III is still played by about 7,000 people on weekends 15 years after release. Starcraft was huge for 12 years before the release of Starcraft II. I still think Starcraft original is big. Same with Diablo, Diablo II, and World of Warcraft. As for sales I'm sure PUBG will blow Overwatch out of the water and no way Overwatch will hit over 1.5 million concurrent players (maybe at release on all devices). Overwatch will last longer, PUBG will grow huge fast and probably die fast.

PC gamers are fickle, one wrong move and your game is hated by everyone. (Happened to COD, happened to GTA, and will most likely happen to PUBG)

On pc it's surely more popular.  It will be getting an Xbox release this holiday so it's going to grow a lot still.  They'll probably do a ps4 release next year too
