Forums - Movies & TV - I thought Orville was bad, but then...

...I watched Star Trek: Discovery.

Oh dear...what a steaming pile of shit.

Horrible, horrible script

Terrible casting and acting (apart from Lt. Saru and Sarek)

Appalling cinematography (Jar Jar Abrams would be proud)

Zero shits given about legacy of prime timeline....although it's supposedly set in it

I guess Orville, no matter how bad it is, eventually is indeed better ST then this crap.

I found the first two episodes to be great and the best start of any Star Trek series (to be honest, they have usually grown to excellence quite a few episodes in). The acting was great, they set up the main characters' struggles and introduced Klingons in a deeper way than we have seen before.

I really like The Orville.

Still haven't actually watched a full episode of The Orville. But speaking of shows on CBS I thought the first episode of Young Sheldon was pretty good even though a lot of people didn't like it.

I watched an episode of Orville. Had a few good moments but agree, it was just meh overall.

I plan on watching an episode or two of ST tonight.

CBS? I thought it was a Netflix show? I mean, I'm looking at it on Netflix now and it literally says "Netflix original" on it

Agree on Young Sheldon though, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to when the series properly starts

Discovery is only on Netflix in countries outside of the US. People in the US have to watch it through CBS

You expected something else from a Netflix original?

1. It's a CBS production, just licensed to Netflix internationally.

2. Are you implying Netflix originals are bad?...

Who is this produced for? Oldtrekkers don't like JJ-Trek² and newtrekkers do not have cable tv.

And here I am and greatly enjoyed it.

^ me too.

I dont agree with OP at all, the first two episodes are just building up a storyline arc, and its going to be good from the look of it.

Yeah OP is over critical.

Meh is probably what I call a okay, its something to watch if you dont have anything else to do.

as for OP:

I think the new Star Trek is better than Orville.

Dont agree with Orville being bad... its just meh, but Star Trek seemed fine, Im looking forwards to more episodes.
