Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yooka-Layle Switch Version Progress Update, a short video showing the Switch Version

This should be frustrating for anyone who is waiting for the Switch version, I say the same about Stardew Valley (at least Stardew Valley is a fantastic game), however still vastly better progress than Mighty No. 9 on the 3DS and Vita.

Playtonic full Statement:

"The Playtonic team has been working tirelessly to bring Yooka-Laylee to Nintendo Switch and we’re very nearly there (we promise!) However, we’ve encountered some final technical hurdles and had been waiting for the arrival of Unity 5.6 in order to fix them. Although this has now been released, it has unfortunately introduced other issues which we are working with Unity to resolve before we can submit to Nintendo and lock in our release timeline.

We understand the frustration that it’s taken so long to get the game in your hands but we hope that you understand that we’re working as fast as we can and want the game to perform as well as it possibly can on Switch. Once these remaining issues are resolved we hope to finally be able to commit to and share a launch date. Thanks as ever for your patience and please bear with us – we are getting there!"

"Mighty Nº9 coming to the 3DS and Vita" Oh, my, that was a fun joke in so many ways.

Also, how come they are having problems with Unity on the Switch? You'd think they wouldn't have any problems on the platform, specially considering Unity is a pretty flexible engine. How many Switch games were made with Unity, and how do they perform?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

3DS and Vita owners were spared. Switch like Wii U is compatible with Unity. Playtonic originally was making the ort to Wii U while Team 17 did the port on other consoles. So I'm not sure if that's still the case.

they should have just release it for wii u and later announce a switch port.

I've played a lot on the pc, but I'm also waiting for the Switch version too, it's going to be a good game to play in times that I need to go to my work place (I work mostly at home but sometimes I have to go to the store that I'm a partner) or at my girlfriend's house :P

Unity is flexible to a degree but not a particularly great engine frankly.  Honestly, with the level of graphics they were looking to push, UE4 would have been a better choice.

Also, off screen handheld footage taken in broad daylight.  Yaaaaaay...

The thing is, a lot of the games on that list have not yet released. For all we know, they could be vaporware.  I'm talking about you ToeJam & Earl!
