Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Assassin's Creed Origins Running Better On Xbox One X Than PC (wccftech)

I guess it's easier with the Xbox One X because it's one console, unlike PCs which vary drastically and thus need to have multiple possible configurations for optimal compatibility.

It's pretty standard for Ubisoft games to run poorly at launch on pc isn't it? Feel like I've heard of it with numerous titles. Not just Unity.

Its ubisoft. Can't expect anything better really.

This^

Came in here to basically say nothing new. Has an AC game ever ran well on the PC?

I'm guessing they haven't focused very much on optimizing the PC version. I hope they do eventually, but I wouldn't count on it.

After disasters like Unity this can be expected. Still, I don't like blank statements like these that don't provide any details, especially as headlines. It's simple click bait. This should neither exist as an official article nor as a thread on VGC.

The correct way to phrase is "ACO might be poorly optimized for PC but it also might not since we have no idea on what specs that one PC was running or what issues it had". Anything other than that is a bold assumption with at best a flimsy foundation.

Not really surprising. MS has the marketing deal, and it seems it's more often than not that Ubisoft titles are very poorly optimized for PC.

Isn't this true for quite a few games?

Yes. Basically all console games run like shit on a PC without dedicated GPU for example. That's why PC is such a garbage platform. It only has a single hardware configuration and issues are impossible to patch out.

Nothing wrong with the existence of the topic, because it's not out of the realm of possibility (considering the history) and it's tagged as a "Rumor". And he provided a key detail. The game constantly runs below 30fps on PC, with frequent stuttering in both fluidity and gameplay, in his experience. The Xbox One X version, according to him, didn't have such problems.

This is a major cause for alarm this close to launch.

My problem is not the content but the wording.

Saying "X runs better on consoles than on PC" is treating PC as a single hardware platform when it is not. There is no single "PC" so you just cannot say that something definitely runs better or worse on PC. It completely undersells and undermines one of the biggest advantages of the platform, upgradability. Might as well claim that all games run like shit on PS4 while specifically meaning a PS4 that has a defect APU.

The only acceptable way is to specify a certain PC and the circumstances.

Interesting however not surprising considering Ubisofts record.. than again it is a shock because you would expect them to learn from there mistake.
Anyway patches later the PC will be in a league of its own like always.
