Pretty much sums it up for me too.

I don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand, I think this is spinning a narrative that could potentially be dangerous to any criticisms about the shallowness and causality of modern RPGs. Given that Jim Sterling seems to prefer depth driven experiences(oh wait no he fucking doesn't he likes Hellblade) it's surprising to see him make fun of people who could be miscontrued as genuine critiquers

South Park does this kind of thing all the time where they make huge blanket statements that make fun of a belief. Where South Park gets it right is that it's actually fucking funny and it then goes on to make fun of the alternative.

I just can't help but think this video mixes in critics with elitists too much. Pretty ironic.

On the one side, it's he's created another character that's both to the point and hilarious, on the other he's giving it good to the hardcore.

I'm kinda interested. Is it worth playing it solo?

You're not supposed to laugh. You're supposed to cringe and shake your head at stupid elitists.

Considering that these "critics" are behaving fucking elitist I see no problem here. People who think that an easy mode somehow destroys their fun despite not having any effect on them can fuck off. There is room for an easy mode as well as a hard mode in every fucking game.

We've already been over this. I don't agree. End of discussion.

I do agree though that the video is specifically talking about *assholes* ... BUT .. it's very easy to take a video like this and just use it against any argument you don't like. Very easy to group elitists in with genuine concerns.

Bla.

The problem is, that the different groups are pitched against each other. Is it right that some scoff at "noobs" and "casual" players? Surely not. But I also see the other way around.

I say: live and let live. What pisses me off - and I see this from many reviewers and commenters - is that game X should change this to be a better game. What they all forget: me. They mean it is a better game for them. But people are different, what one thinks is better another finds boring. So maybe one guy loves instant gratification in a game, another one likes Monster Hunter. So what. Both should have their games.

In the light of this this video comes down to me as a video attacking a culture of gamers. Sure, they aren't without a fault, but this is actually not better.

10 years greatest game event!

This is slightly amusing and all, but smug elitists aside, is anybody really gonna deny that lots of watering down is being done in gaming these days?

I'm curious, why do you disagree?  The only reason I can see to not have an easy mode in games is exlusion and a superiority complex, which is the kind of attitude Jim's character is addressing.

Concerning Jim...this is kinda funny but I still don't like the guy, sorry.

This was fun to watch...but then again, I see Matt Mercer and I click no matter what.

As for Jim...he's a somewhat funny guy and I actually enjoyed watching this new persona of his, but then again he's missing the point with this one.
