SteamWorld Dig 2 is a Metroidvania game, focused on exploration, platforming and tons, tons of digging. From the developers Image&Form, the SteamWorld series was widely acclaimed, with games like SteamWorld Heist, SteamWorld Tower Defense and the first SteamWorld Dig. And it's also one of my most beloved series in videogames, so I felt the need to make a thread to talk about it. It'll come to a lot of platforms, so I hope you give it a chance, because I think it's worth everyone's time. It'll cost 19.99€/19.99$ in every platform, so if you feel like you want to try it, that's not too expensive, is it? We have no words about a physical version, but it only eats about 200MB of your hard drive, so that won't be a issue at all.

SteamWorld Dig 2 follows a similar gameplay than the first one, with some additions and changes to improve the already solid gameplay of the first one. This game is almost 100% hand-designed, so I think this will improve the general level design. The first one was procedural generated, so I that's probably the biggest change to the formula. Also, the length was improved, and there are more secrets to find in this one. We can expect around 10-15 hours to beat the campaign, and I hope that the secrets keep the game running on my Switch for long.

So, how do you feel about the series? Have you ever tried any SteamWorld game, and, in case you have, how was the experience with them? Are you as hyped as I am about this release? Do you plan on buying it?

"This game is almost 100% hand-crafted"

Not to be a dick but how is a game "almost 100% hand-crafted" Is this like one of those old games where you'd put a plastic sheet over the television and just move a dot light?

Either way, this is really exciting! In fact, as someone who hasn't played the first, I might just pick it up on my Switch!

I'll get this when I find an SD card to put on the Switch. Is this game getting a retail release?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's only 172 mb, why neeed an sd card?

For me the only hard part is if i should get this or golf story

D'oh! I think "hand-designed" works better in this context XD. Thanks for pointing that out, life is about mistakes and learning .

You should try the first one. I think this will improve the first in every way conceivable, but it's still a really nice game to play if you're into Metroidvanias.

Oh, and Golf Story sounds like a really cool game to play. Interesting concept at least.

I'm going to try to save as much space as possible. Just in case the inner storage ends up full.

Getting it day One on the Switch. I really enjoyed the Original Steam World Dig.

The game hits the eShop at 1AM PDT, 8AM UTC and 10AM CEST, in case you're interested in playing it as soon as possible

Played the first one on the Vita. It's a solid game but I don't see myself playing this one. I'd much rather game on my consoles than my Vita and I have way better games to my PS consoles. And I think it's suited for a handheld way more as well so if people are still gaming on handhelds, they should get it.

Edit: The game is $20? Lol, yeah, I'm not desperate for games to play.

Loved the first game to bits and will definitely get this one on the Switch. Steamworld Dig was a perfect fit for a handheld, guess this won't be any different.
