Nintendo stocks were highest in peak of Wii/DS era and they were at 70 JPY, I can see Nintendo stock finish at years end around 50 JPY (curently they are around 43 JPY) .

I think you're missing a few 0s off those figures. Unless Nintendo went bankrupt recently or something

Well, if they went bankrupt they wouldn't have any stock at all. What he's describing is more along the lines of Nintendo's stock splitting 1,000 to 1.

How were those stocks in Wii U days?

Nintendo's upward trending market cap has doubled over the past year, and is now touching the 40 billion euro mark (Over 5.3T yen), the highest it has been since 2008, while Sony's has dropped over the last few months to below 42 billion (5.61T yen). Sony peaked in July of this year, and has begun to trend downward. At the current trends over the past few months, Nintendo should pass Sony in the not so distant future.

Of course, anything could happen to change the direction, but now that both companies have done their major pre-TGS shows, it looks like this is increasingly unlikely. Keep in mind, Sony is a much larger business than Nintendo, they don't just do videogames, but these other businesses they're involved in can be both an advantage and a disadvantage (although, typically it's the prior).

This is exciting news for those of us who like to see Nintendo's success on the rise.

Wait a minute, I thought Nintendo was higher than Sony since last year? Thats what some Nintendo fans kept telling us.

What's this obsession with stock? And the constant comparison to Sony! Sony's not just a video game company.

It's not long since they were above lol, so I'm not sure how this is special enough to warrant its own thread.

a win is a win.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

That all hinges on whether or not they get access to China. China has been known to screw companies over arbitrarily as a result of competing government agencies, like they did with Blizzard and WoW a few years back.

It's a gold mine if it pans out, but it can also sink the value of your shares.

Nintendo fan but I think that stock is overpriced for sure. I wouldn't touch that as an investor.

Too many investors giddy about China ... Nintendo has tried to enter the Chinese market before to limited success and there are a lot of variables there.

I agree with this. Sony has it's hand on so much more businesses, so that alone ensures Sony is the more viable option to own.

.... exept for the fact that aftet the mid 2000's, most of sony's subdivisions has crashed and burned, only leaving thier bank, camera, movie, and gaming divisions a profit, so most of it is a negative to sony.

as for china, they are literally the only console compay that has actual reach in china due to Ique being a thing.

They surpassed Sony a few years ago and then dropped and no one mentioned it again. This is part of why I got sick of the Nintendo fanbase as a whole, they get too excited over things that will prob only last a few months at most. Keep in mind, I'm only referring to the base that'll take this and the "130 million" units thing and turn it into Nintendo selling a billion systems in 1 year as a result
