That is an awesome baseline for a Home Console in Japan.

Not to mention that Switch still sold out every week in Japan.

One interesting info, Switch is currently on half of LT Wii U numbers in Japan (Switch is on 1.667m, Wii U is on 3.328m).

Also its expected that next two weeks Nintendo will ship a little more Switch units than last few weeks because Pokemon Tournament DX launch next week, and Fire Emblem Warriors launch week later, and at end of October Nintendo will ship much more units because of Mario Odyssey launch offcourse.

I only have VGC figures for these, I assume this is where he got the numbers from too.

Metroid Prime - 42k
Prime 3 - 32k
Other M - 47k
Hunters - 33k

Saying it did "very good" for the franchise seems a bit of a stretch when it's the worst out of the ones vgc has numbers for anyway. It did well though.
Could struggle to get much over 500k lifetime though.

Agreed. I'm fairly good (being modest) when it comes to reading between the lines. The game could have sold 5,000 copies and tbone would have said it did well. He thinks his knowledge of the fact that Metroid doesn't do too hot in Japan sets a precedent that allows all Metroid games to do bad, and thus, do good.

Unacceptable.

5k is horrible, federation force bombed so your wrong there. Its 30k for a remake. A remake, not a brand new game. That said very well was an overstatement. I thought the last couple of metroid games did around 25k-30k each so compared to a remake of metroid 2 that wasnt bad at all.

No need to be all upset or mean lol but i guess its acceptable

What a load of bull. I'm sure it won't be a problem for you to find a post in this thread in which tbone praises Federation Force's sales.

You guys have no imagination. It only takes a small amount of poking around to find sales data for Prime 2 Echoes (18k FW) and Prime Pinball (16k FW). How convenient that these figures have escaped your notice. Clearly selling about 5% less than Prime Hunters did in its first week is unacceptable, despite Hunters being the best-selling game in the series in Japan since 2003.

When is Nintendo going to realize that Metroid sales could increase tenfold if they just advertised an exclusive birthday suit Samus in Japan?

40K is not the baseline for Switch if its still out of stock.
I think this will the last few week/s that there will be a Splatoon 2 Bundle because Mario will replace it.
PS4: 24K is good. Next week could be higher.

DQ XI Still chugging along.

Also, What's the current LTD of PS4 in Japan?
Same goes for Switch?

Don't know about PS4, but Switch is 1,667,527 according to Media Create. I'd assume PS4 is around 5.3 million.

  • Wii U – 86 (90) - 4.44%
  • Xbox One – 57 (63) -9.52%
  • I didn't pay close attention last week. Did anyone explain why PS4 Pro doubled in sales last week? It went back to its normal ~5k levels this week.

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

25k-ish is not a "good baseline" for a console, I'm sorry that's just massively lowered expectations.

Even Switch's baseline in the 40s is not ideal, 3DS was in the 60ks at this point concurrently in its life cycle.

I see thanks for the info.
Switch will sell 2.5 -3 Million at the end of 2017
    I can see PS4 selling 5.7 - 6  Million at the end of 2017.
