Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch Predictions, and looking ahead to the future

We all enjoy this, right? Everyone is positive that they are the correct ones. Whether if it'd be predicting the Switch to flop and sell 15m or predicting it to pass the Wii, I'm sure we all should check back on the Switch.

It's almost been a year since its announcement, and 6 months since the device released. What were some of your predictions, and how far off (or close) were you?

Here were some of mine:

1. We'd get a Splatoon 2 in 2017 (correct)

2. The Switch would start a bit slow, but then go into hyperdrive at the end of Summer (probably wrong)

3. The Switch would either be 249.99 or 299.99 with a Wii Sports-like game (incorrect)

4. Nintendo will make another pokemon game for the 3ds before the Switch (correct)

5. Switch will sell minimum 40m (unknown)

I had more, but forgot a decent amount. Now, what are your future predictions? Here are mine:

1. Pokemon Switch will come late 2018

2. Metroid Prime will either come December 2018 or the first 3 months of 2019

3. We will get Gen 4 Pokemon Remakes in 2019

4. The Switch will get a 299.99 bundle in the holidays of 2018

5. A Switch revision will be announced in the first half of 2019

6. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be remade for the Switch

7. Virtual Console will arrive in 2018

8. Lifetime Switch sales will be at 13m by the time this year ends

We got Splatoon 2 in 2017 not 2007...

Yeah, inventing time travel was bold move on Nintendo's part, but it paid off in the end.

Anyways, I had two predictions:

1.) Mainline Pokémon games would be on Switch. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=225591&page=1

2.) Switch will have higher total shipments than Wii U by March 31st, 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=225668&page=1

1 is already confirmed. 2 is possible, but Nintendo is worrying me with all the talk of only being able to make 10 million this fiscal year.

These are all pretty reasonable goals/predictions. If Ocarina is remade on Switch...man. This would be one hell of a battle between 2 titans. Ocarina and FFVII. I think Gen IV remake will come after the new gen though. I don't think Nintendo wants to break Pokemon into the new age of consoles with a remake.

One thing is for sure though, 2018 should be VERY interesting for Nintendo.

I don't make many bold predictions, but here are some:

1. Animal Crossing Switch comes May 2019

2. Super Mario Sunshine HD comes eventually

3. Kid Icarus Uprising 2 arrives late 2019

4. The first Switch revision will be a Switch Lite, which removes the majority of the bezels and improves on battery life. It'll be the regular price of the Switch when it releases.

We will get a Legend of Zelda HD Collection on the Switch.

GTA V will be out on the Switch by the end of 2018, Mario will be a forth playable character in the story.
There will be a Mario Kart game mode / minigame.

Skyrim for Switch will sell over 5 million units lifetime.

Game Freak will release a new IP on the Switch.
It will get a sequel, but will be a minor success.

We will see a Mother Trilogy pack in English.
Mother 3 will be remade for the Switch using a Windwaker HD art style, with voice acting.

A Pokemon spinoff will be a runaway success.
     Spawning many sequels.

Nintendo will start putting titles on the Nvidia Shield TV, people will freak out about this.
All this will end up being is the end of Nintendo's iQue line.

Switch will get VR and a power boosting dock.

Everything else I need more info for.
