Forums - Gaming Discussion - Destiny 2 delivers the biggest console game launch week of the year

Can't think of a big 'multiplatform' game that released this year :s.

Destiny 2 is a good game, but this is all marketing hype. Did Destiny 2 outsell Destiny 1 for it's launch week? No? That's ok, just put out an article saying that it's the biggest release of the year. Oh wait, PUBG sold more copies than us? Ok then, it's the biggest selling CONSOLE game of the year (even though the year isn't over yet, and other games could still surpass us). Bungies marketing team is like the sharpshooter that fires bullets into the side of a barn, and then paints the bullseye, nearest to the most bullet holes, after the fact. It's all spin.

Yes, i play the game on a friend's ps4... it's no a bad game, but is not a great game either. so maybe that's the reason it has not sell more than Destiny 1.

Marketing hype nothing more.

34 years playing games.

Not to downplay Destiny 2, but what has there been that could remotely compare? Madden? Not really.

The Switch has been loaded with better games but doesn't have the user base to surpass the newest most coolest PS4/Xbone shooter.

Gott a love dat spin. Notice they never once said it was the biggest launch of the year or sold more than the first game.  Its all prefaced or followed by qualifiers with vague meanings.

Whoever Activision/Bungie hired to write that beautiful piece of PR is not making enough money .

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

In UK it was less than half the first destinys sales on first week, so what are this guys telling me??

Digital sales for Destiny 2 are probably a lot higher than Destiny 1 so more copies were sold digitally this time around.

OP: Glad to see Destiny 2 selling. One of my favorite games this year.

They did? "as the #1 console gaming launch week of the year to date". I guess they did preface it with "console", but i'm not aware of any PC games having thus far claimed that spot (though correct me if I've just missed it.

This reads like a Microsoft PR statement.
