Though that was not his point, i.e. this is a strawman. He's arguing that the conductor was fired for a dubious reason even though the supposed "victim" sided with him. In addition, it doesn't help your case when you started off with an ad hominem as opposed to refuting the OP.

Ah, I remember the good 'ol days when I was the one who was being hit with this stuff

I've been busy with classes and student teaching, so that would explain that

And to be fair, I'm also not a big fan with Lawlight's constant outrage. Not against him reporting this type of news, but he always does it with some sort of slant.

It's a good argument for the horseshoe theory.

Horse shoe theory all depends on how you define 'left' and 'right'. I follow the understanding that left means big government and right means small government. Far right is anarchy, far left is totalitarianism. Both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were dependent on big government.

If you let the government get big enough, someone will always use it as a club to beat down their opposition. I'm a 'minimum government necessary' kind of guy.

Actually that is not quiet true the NAZI where already highly effective in rasing large sums of money even before they gained power.  Their two paramilitary wings the SA (1920) and SS (1925) pretty much go back to the founding of the party just to kee those two runnig took a fair amount of money.

Now then, that creates another problem, because both the Soviet Union and Nazy Germany considered themselves socialist. If we are to believe their rhetoric, they can't both be correct, or else they wouldn't be on opposite sides of the scale. So, either one of them is manipulating the working class with socialist rhetoric in order to keep their support, or both of them are.

If you consider socialism in all forms in opposition to capitalism (in theory) then sure you can put Nazi Germany on the same level as the USSR on the far left. This is more of an issue on how you base your scale rather both states calling themselves socialist.

Actually, no.  The Nazi's where never actually oposed to capitalism and once they gained power they very much where in favor of big buisness and capitalism.  Also once they gained complete power they outlawed all trade unions that is pretty much a very pro capitalism move.  On top of all that they never where real socialist either and any left leaning members of the party where either killed or purged from the party during the Night of the Long Knives.

And Bradley Manning had her fellowship revoked from Harvard, due to establishment pressure: insanity!

This man is correct.

The guy deserves to be fired.

I think context is very important. If you can't joke about things like these with friends then its no wonder race relations in the US is so shit right now.

Really now.

Stereotypical portrayals have been labeled "racism" for over thirty years, but now ANY form of imitation or portrayal is racism?

Then the Soviet Union was not opposed to capitalism either since it's economy was run by state capitalist enterprises for the majority of it's history.

That is the slidesloope that will lead to apologetics that claim "comunism was never attempted, so you can't say it gone wrong"

Sure, I can live with that
