Okay here's a sales battle I find really interesting

Minecraft 3DS vs Minecraft Vita

MInecraft on 2 handhelds.  One system has sold more than the other, but the catch that may level the playing field is that the audience is constrained by those with N3DS (std 3DS won't get it)- yet N3DS still sells a a level higher than PS Vita week to week.

Minecraft is already on the Switch - however not all Nintendo handheld owners will upgrade to Switch in the short run. 

3DS more broadly represents the Minecraft fanbase than Vita in a way too.

Yet even for all the Vita's weaknesses - Minecraft already sold well.

Do you think the 3DS version will outsell the Vita one?

I genuinely feel like Minecraft may breathe some new life into the 3DS eShop in way few other 3DS releases can now.

The 3DS Minecraft is sandwitched between being N3DS only, the release of the Switch version, and that this is the worst-looking version avalible on the market (even the mobile version can profit from bigger screens). Thus, I think the Vita version will outsell it, simply because the 3DS won't sell more than 2m.

But the real answer is the NGage version will outsell them all. No contest.

I say Vita, because this is tied to New 3DS

If it was on standard 3DS, it would outsell the Vita version easily.

But it's N3DS only and late into the system's life so idk, I would assume a good chunk of kids who love Minecraft either only have a regular 3DS or none at all.

I think it was released far to late for N3DS, this really should of came out like 2 years ago.

It won't sell well on 3DS. It's not an interesting fight, honestly.

On one hand you have the Vita ver. which functions like the console versions. The graphics are better. And every Vita owner can play it.

Then you got the 3DS ver. which looks more like a PS1 game. Its more limited than the PE version of Minecraft. Limited size like the PS3/360 ver. -except smaller. Also iirc, it will have limited online play. On top of that, only works on the 'New' line of 3DS.

I like Minecraft and will also be picking up the 3DS ver. too, but I do not believe it will win, sales wise, against the Vita. If it does, it'll win, just barely. Keep in mind the Switch is slowly going to phase out the 3DS, so it hurts sales potential on that front too.

Didn't the vita already sell a mill in japan.

I really don't see Minecraft 3DS selling much. Quite frankly I'm scratching my head over why that game exists at all.

I don't know why this didn't release this sooner, it seems so odd that they're releasing it as late as they have. However, I actually can still see it doing well, it's Minecraft after all. However, it may be too little, too late to surpass the Vita version.
