Forums - Gaming Discussion - Yoshinori Kitase: "Technology of Final Fantasy VII remake will SURPASS Final Fantasy XV"

At this rate I hope they just move the project to the PS5 because there is no way they will get all 3 episodes out before the PS5 is out.

How about make a decent game and not forty hour tech demos that are largely unimpressive?

Unreal Engine 4 is cancerous in terms of optimizations ...

I expect low framerates unless anybody has a high end Nvidia video card ...

Also if they really wanted 'the technology of FFVIIR to surpass FFXV' why don't they make it a Windows 10 exclusive and make DX12 a hard requirement too while their at it ...

I would buy that.
Though I would prefer Vulkan.

Too late, DX12 is already technically superior ...

Does not mean Vulkan cannot catch up pretty quickly.
And it causes less issues down the line due to its open nature.

Who gives a fuck about the tech!? Just make it a complete game with a decent battle system, unlike FFXV.

This makes me happy that this is possible with unreal engine 4 because FF7 is a HUGE game, it's a big big game. bigly. We got Midgar City, airship traveling, we get to go on the sea, under the sea, we go into space, over and into five mountains, tundras, deserts and over 50 different locations, plus we got 13 different summons. Think about that, the luminous engine in FFXV could barely get together Leviathan, it was just a terrible engine.

Have you considered that maybe FFXV was just a very ambitious game? What UE4 games equals it on scale and graphics?

Its likely that FFVIIR will not be open world, but instead a series of connect locations including a larger overworld.

not gonna speculate;

but I will say this, the original FF7 is completely open world once you reach the 3rd disc.
