Hurricane Irma wasn't fake. Woah, big surprise. However, not everyone agrees. 

I've stumbled across multitudes of people across the internet who seem to think that Hurricane Irma was a big hoax, or, better yet, was created by the government for some nefarious reason. These people either claim that the media is hyping up a storm that doesn't exist (why?), NOAA is in on some government conspiracy (again, why?), or that HAARP, a government weather controlling entity, is using "weaponized" hurricanes as some sort of military or citizen attack (once again, why?)

In the end, I make this thread just to ask why? Why have people been spreading complete non-sense like this so much recently? Who in their right mind actually believes that this is a thing? I just don't understand. If any of you have the insane belief that Irma was fake or #trumpdidirma, please tell me why. I'll laugh at you, but I still want to delve into the psyche of these people, even if it might be hard to get past the tin foil.

I guess this shows how much trust plays into a factor of manipulation. Many people will base their decisions on who they trust, whether or not the statement is actually true. I think it may also be some sort of mental defense or shutdown against the reality of the destruction.

It's the internet. Everyone can say what he wants. 'Being right in your mind' isn't a requirement to be allowed to write or say something.

This reminds me of the "9/11 didn't happen because jet fuel can't melt steel beams" arguments.

Are you saying there's a possibility these people, or more specifically the video I linked, are all parodies?

I have even saw people in Brazil saying our climate is being manipulated by HAARP, because we had 3 times this year occurrences of high winds and similar and that is no common here.

That's all you need to know about the mentality of the people that come up with this stuff. It's a combination of the mental illness, low education, stubbornness and sometimes, just plain trolling that gets this stuff to take off. There's a lot of people that don't like to take things at face value that always want to challenge expertise and the status quo, and they're easily exploitable.

I invite the anti-vaccers, flat-earthers and hurricane deniers to experience the consequences of their ignorance they spew the hard way (disease, being shot into space, washed away with the tide) so they don't infect everyone else.
