Forums - PC Discussion - PUBG, what am I missing?

Ok given the huge amount of people now playing PUBG I figured their must be something special going on. So I got got it and have spent a couple of hours playing it and ..... well I just don't get it? it is just another generic FPS with average graphics, plenty of bugs and glitches and average game play. perhaps I am missing something?

I'm in same boat as you. Watched plenty of game play, but don't see why there is so much hype. Looks like a game I'd be bored of after a week.

Just the popular survival shooter of the moment out of many. It's meh to me as well.

Here is a review:

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The concept sounds awesome to me, loved the film Battle Royale so anything like that would interest me, so I can get the appeal. Only problem for me personally is I don't like online multiplayer games. But if they ever add offline bots... I'd be very interested!

But for that you would need developers that actually care about making a game and not just creating a platform to sell gambling to children.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I didn't really understand it either... it just seems like that Zombie mod for that Arma game a few years back.

It's odd; it seems every few years there's a game that everyone goes wild over for including features that past games have already included. I have to assume this is just a younger crowd that wasn't around for the previous craze or something.

I can't understand why it is so wildly popular, then, but I'm happy for everyone who seem to love the game.

This time we have a better infrastructure to enable for bigger successes on PC.

I suppose, but we've always had plenty of people on PC's; even just amoung the FPS genre, the CS/RS/BF/Arma communities have long been huge, and there's been a long list of shooter mmo's through the years that included many of these features. Honestly makes me wonder if maybe it got going due to some famous streamers, much like how youtube and twitch helped Minecraft to explode.

Sounds like a game that is much more fun if you can gather a group of friends to play with. If you don't really know who you're playing with, it doesn't sound like it'd be as appealing.
