So what? He's not American and English doesnt equal America. If Americans are offended then don't watch it. He creates videos for a global adueince, 95% which isnt American. Calling a Swede a racist for using a term that is racist only in an American context is stupid. Outside America it's a cuss word. UK also didn't have "african american" history of slavety, so it doesnt matter if he broadcasts from there. That word is offensive because of its uniquely American context

95% of his audience is outside the US?  Can you prove that or did you just make it up to support your agument?

I'm not calling him racist.  I'm calling him ignorant.

And did you just say the UK wasn't involved in the slave trades?  I will leave you with the gravity of the ignorance from which you just spoke.

Slave trade =/= N word. That is American. The N word isnt an insult to slaves, it is an insult to AMERICAN slaves and their descendents.

The demographic of his specific audience doesn't matter - what matters is the fact that he makes his videos to a potentially global audience, of which the us is 5%. He's not ignorant, because the history and use of the N word isnt relevant to a Swede broadcasting from the UK. If he was American then he would be ignorant and potentially racist, but he's not.

Stop putting American standards on non Americans. There arent any african americans in Sweden - the issue with the N word, slavery and black discrimination is a national issue effecting less than 5% of this worlds population - the US. If you're American, don't use the N word. If you're not American its an empty word and not worth freaking out over.

That word doesn't apply to just African-Americans. It's a derogatory slang meant for ALL blacks bastardized from a Spanish word. People who speak English are well aware of the connotations of the word and who it's aimed at. Felix isn't stupid, so don't conclude everyone else is too. He lives in the UK, communicates with his YT audience in English and in the video, he acknowledges his slip-up. You don't have to clutch straws this hard for him.

Whether he knows or not isnt the point - if you are NOT American, Canadian or English then you should be able to use the word without an international meltdown, because there isnt the historical context that exists in the US for that word. If you're a English native then you should not be allowed.

What kind of rule is that? If I know a word offends people racially of any language, I sure as hell wouldn't broadcast it for the world to hear if I were the world's most popular YouTuber. He knows the context of the word, he caught himself before saying it live prior to this. English is a second language in Sweden, FYI.

At least he realized he f'ed up and apologized. Now for the morons on here that think it was OK or no big deal, get a clue.

What I'm tying to say is that from the POV of a Swede the word doesn't have any power - it's just a word, a swear. A swede doesnt have the same visceral reaction to it that an American would. So Pewdie likely doesnt consider th word to e a big deal because he didnt grow up in a culture where it is.

well... that was pretty much my point... which was not necessarily about the details of the election itself, but the fact that hitler had great support in germany

that the majority in a country can be corrupt and do corrupt things that harm them and beyond them minorities in that country

Your point was an oxymoron to begin with ... (How does one lose if they were 'democratically elected' ?)

Details matter a lot if you're trying to make a point on a basis ...

Also, Hitler himself didn't have majority support and neither did his party ...

You got alot of that screwed up. It's the latin word for black which was used to describe black people in the literal sense back in the day. It's no different than calling a black person black if you want to get technical about it. It's likely how Nigeria got it's name (ironically, it's still used). Somewhere along the way someone took it as offensive likely because of the tone and circumstances it was said in later on. It's the same with how some people take the word "gringo" as offensive. It's because they don't understand what it means and the tone it sometimes used in. Through education, the word should have lost it's ability to offend people and frankly, the hystria surrounding the usuage of it is really idiotic in comparison to other offensive words surrounding race, cuss words and just mean words in general.

It is never ok for non-African to use that word. It can be a death sentence if a non-white person says that word in the presence of Africans who get offended and act accordingly. This guy has no street smarts and if he said that word on the mean streets of the USA and or parts of Europe he would not last long.

I don't think that is how the "N-word" came to be. At least, that's not how history tells the story.

It's original meaning has no negative or offensive connotation to it. That stuff was attributed to it later through misunderstanding the meaning and the tone that was likely used with it during the times of slavery.  it's alot like gaijin, gringo or laowai in the misunderstanding sense. They mean foreigner but because of the tone or context they are sometimes said in, it gives some people the idea that they have a negative connotation when they really don't.
